Mecatecno is back

mecatecno_400It is no longer a one-off and isolated event; The most mythical brands in this speciality are gradually returning to the current market. At first, Bultaco tried, but problems with the patent forced them to bet on Sherco (acronym for SHERpa & COmpany). Subsequently, Fantic has also made noise, but without a doubt it has been Ossa who has bet the most on its rebirth, with a technologically advanced and really competitive bike.

Mecatecno was a well-known manufacturer in the children’s motorcycle sector with activity from 1983 to 1989, where an important market share was monopolized by the Trial. You will remember the 50cc “Dragon Fly”, “Alevín” or the “Skywalker”. In fact, Lluís Gallach on the back of a Mechatecno won the first round of the 1987 World Championship, held in Wales.

Now Mecatecno is back witha product of its specialty: children’s motorcycles. The products they have developed, curiously, do not have an engine, but are electrically propelled. Caroline Sandiford has been in charge of announcing that her company Jim Sandiford LTD has been appointed as the sole licensee for the United Kingdom.

Caroline has two test units that were presented in Fort William and is now working with distributors to meet the demand that Christmas. More news is expected in September and in principle it will be in Barcelona where its launch will be officially announced and we will already have detailed information about the models that will go on sale.
