Electric Motion presents the fourth edition of the EPure Race, a model that surprisingly arrived on the market after an intense period of development under the baton of Marc Colomer. Previously, the French brand manufactured other electric trial models in series, but more focused on the context of trial – excursion.
Before we go into the technical details, let’s explain how the Electric Motion range of trial bikes is configured:
- Electric Motion EPure: this model is not imported into Spain. It does not have a mechanical clutch and its performance is more limited. It is designed for an entry-level audience that is looking for a bike to “discover nature” and is capable of sacrificing performance in exchange for a more affordable price.
- Electric Motion EPure RACE: this is the most popular model and the one we talk about in this presentation. It is 98% in line with the EPure COMP. It is equipped with a mechanical clutch, disengageable TKO (idle) system, 6 power maps, TECH suspension and top-notch components.
- Electric Motion EPure COMP: this is the limited version we are referring to in this report. It basically differs from the RACE in the rear shock (Reiger 3-way instead of 2-way), and is usually a “pre-series” of what we see now in 2023.
WHAT'S NEW Electric motion EPURE RACE 2023
The new
Electric Motion EPure RACE 2023
is a small step forward in the successful evolution that is consolidating its range. The international successes in competition, where it has shown that it is at the same level as thermal motorcycles, have confirmed that the project is a success.
Of course, edition after edition, components are optimised and their electronics are better understood, which allows for a wider range of possibilities and customisation of the response.
For this EPure 2023 range, work has been done on a new map configuration, where greater scalability in the rev range and more useful power have been sought.
The big novelty, however, is that it retains the six power maps, but with changes. In 2022, the “TKO” system was released, which allows you to engage an idle to provide extra inertia in certain situations. With this component, the sensations are closer to riding a thermal motorcycle. Well, in 2022 this TKO system was operational on two power maps, while in 2023 it is operational on three maps.
To complete this map change operation it is not necessary to reactivate the controller, so the system of moving from one group of maps to another takes only a couple of seconds.
In this Electric Motion 2023 range, work has also been done on the clutch, which receives a new piston and configuration, looking for more power and a more immediate response.
Finally, in terms of mechanics, the throttle control, signed by Domino, is also new.
WHAT CHANGES IN THE CYCLE PART?
As for the chassis of the new Electric Motion EPure RACE 2023, we also have news.
The front fork is still entrusted to a 39mm TECH with aluminium bars, while at the rear the three-way R16V is replaced by a two-way Reiger (on the EPure Comp it is 3-way).
Finally, it debuts a new Nekken handlebar.
The Electric Motion EPure RACE 2023 is priced at €11,500 and is available from the Trialworld Store.
It should be remembered that this Electric Motion is homologated, is registrable and has an autonomy that exceeds three hours of wheel time in motion, which is equivalent to more than a standard fuel tank of a trial thermal motorcycle.

EM EPure RACE Mechanical Clutch
Why does this bike need to idle? It is not really necessary for most cases, but the riders of the Trial-E World Championship have successfully tested this system, as it brings extra inertia to the engine and the riding is much more similar to an internal combustion bike.
Basically, you can see it on consecutive or large steps, where this extra rev helps you in the last section of the obstacle.
One of the consequences of selecting maps with TKO is that the rider works more with the mechanical clutch that the EPure incorporates in its Race and Comp versions. A diaphragm clutch system that works exactly the same as on combustion engines.
While on maps without TKO we could drive without touching the clutch at any time, with the device actuated it is necessary to modulate all the power more precisely. In short, these are two competition maps.
HIGH-PERFORMANCE LITHIUM BATTERY
The lithium battery of the Electric Motion EPure Race has a capacity of 1.9Wh, giving it a range of approximately 3 hours on the move and the ability to recharge in less than 3 hours. If we talk about equivalences, with a full battery charge we have something less than what represents a tank and a half of gasoline in an internal combustion motorcycle.
The battery can be detached in just a couple of minutes to charge it in a different place from where the bike is located.

The suspension scheme is another of the great differentiating points of the Electric Motion EPure Race 2023. At the front , the Tech fork is equipped with aluminium bars.
Behind the camera we also have improvements, as it equips the REIGER shock absorber with a two-way system.
PRBR BRAKING AND LOAD REGENERATION SYSTEM
The Electric Motion EPure RACE 2023 offers the PRBR system as an option. It consists of a small lever that is placed on the clutch cover and allows a double function.
On the one hand, it is a progressive brake that acts on the rear brake, so we now have a handbrake. On the other hand, at the same time as it is activated, charge is regenerated in the battery.
The difference with the regenerative brake button lies in the fact that the latter is not progressive, but an on-off switch, while the lever does allow you to modulate the force with which the braking system is applied.
APPROVAL & PRICE
The Electric Motion EPure RACE 2023, like the entire range of the brand, has Euro5 homologation, is registrable and can be driven with a B license (two years of experience) or A1.
The price of the Electric Motion EPure RACE 2023 is €11,500.
