The Trial World Championship officially kicks off this coming Saturday, December 21 with the X-Trial in Madrid. This event, being within the year 2024, the drivers will still start with their contracts in force and we will not see changes.
However, everything points to the situation being very different in 2025, especially when it comes to the outdoor world championships. The key would be the electric Honda RTL, with which Fujinami has participated in the Japanese National Championship with three victories. Honda would like to bring this RTL to the Trial2 World Championship and is looking for a rider with experience, capable of winning the world championship and defending against the great equality of this category, where more than 40 riders compete.
For this position they have talked, at least, with Adam Raga, Miquel Gelabert and Matteo Grattarola. Finally, it seems that the option that best prospers is that of Matteo Grattarola, who knows Montesa well, is Trial2 World Champion and has a more than proven level to fulfill the task. Another name that also sounds for this position is that of Arnau Farré.
The latest news points to Jaime Busto having tested the official Beta EVO in recent days. Although the Basque rider has a contract with GASGAS, the complicated situation that the parent company is going through and which has led to significant cuts, could consider a change to the Italian brand, which he also knows from previous years, with the aim of ensuring stability and resources to continue competing for the title in 2025.
What GASGAS has confirmed is the end of the electric motorcycle project in high competition, terminating the contract with Sondre Haga and concentrating its efforts on Jaime Busto. Who would not continue in TrialGP would be Jorge Casales, Adam Raga, who is retiring, or Benoit Bincaz, at least the latter as an official Sherco rider. Who seems to be keeping that Sherco is Miquel Gelabert, who would leave his Vertigo and return to a brand that has always accompanied him. At least, Miquel would have gone up to France to test the bike.
More possible changes. Jeroni Fajardo, who has been linked to Electric Motion for months, could participate in the Trial2 World Championship with the electric motorcycle, teaming up with Gael Chatagno.
On the other hand, Toby Martyn, who confirmed his departure from professional trials, would leave his bike to Alex Canales, former Sherco rider, who would join the current structure where Pablo Suárez plays.
We also have the signing of Hugo Dufrese by Beta. All this information will be confirmed, or not, in the coming days.
