Montesa Cota 4RT 260 2017

Montesa
has announced new features for its Cota 4RT260 and Race Replica 2017 models, which since their appearance in 2014 have been receiving improvements year after year. The new 260s can be seen for the first time next weekend (2 and 3 July) in Andorra in the paddock of the 2 Dies de Trial d’Encamp and will start to be marketed at the beginning of September.

MORE CHANGES TO THE MONTESA COTA 4RT 260

The one that has the most radical change on an aesthetic level is the Montesa Cota 4RT260 2017, which abandons red as the main colour, changing it for an elegant white that, combined with the blue and red details and the aluminium fuel tank, gives it an important air of sportiness. The aesthetic changes are also noticeable in the TECH fork, where the bar is now chrome and the bottle black.

For its part, the Race Replica also receives some changes, such as the ‘M’ for Montesa now located at the rear of the fender to give it more presence, but basically it still maintains the aesthetics of the Repsol Honda Team motorcycle world champion and ridden by Toni Bou, Takahisa Fujinami and Jaime Busto.
In addition to the aesthetic changes, both models now have a longer starter lever, Cota 300R type, which makes it even easier to start the bike with a single kick.

As for the thermodynamic groupset, they continue to rely on the 260cc 4-stroke engine of last season’s model, which benefited from a remarkable increase in power thanks to the adoption of a new fuel pump that provides greater fuel flow. This factor, together with the mapping of the ECU*, ensures that the engine offers a full power curve especially at low and medium revs.
Another highly noteworthy aspect is the clear reduction of engine braking that the previous model already incorporated, a feature of the 4-stroke engines that was intelligently solved by Honda engineers with a crankcase gas decompression system. Through this system, when the throttle is cut, the engine only has a minimal engine braking effect, making the motorcycle feel much lighter and more controllable.

MONTESA COTA 4RT 260 RACE REPLICA 2017

The Race Replica model maintains the prestigious set of high-quality SHOWA front and rear suspensions that continue to be a benchmark in trial. In the case of the Cota 4RT260, it has a set of high-level suspensions, but at the same time with a much more contained cost.

The front suspension is signed by TECH, while the rear relies on a lightweight R16V multi-adjustable shock absorber, a highly efficient suspension set that results in a greater feeling of lightness.
