Montesa Cota 311 Trial

The Montesa Cota 311 occupies a privileged position in the history of Montesa, but more than for its sporting trajectory, for the technical solutions and configuration of the Cota 311.

The Montesa Cota 311 was the natural successor to the Montesa Cota 310 and was manufactured between 1992 and 1993. During these two years there were no technical differences and aesthetically they are identical, except for the chassis stickers, which in the first year had a “drop of water” relief with the letters of Montesa and in the second year some additional graphics in red.

The undisputed hallmarks of the Montesa Cota 311 are its beautiful double-beam chassis made of aluminum by Verlicchi and the fact that it incorporates liquid cooling for its 260cc two-stroke engine. None of these technical solutions were previously incorporated into the Montesa Cota 310, so the technical evolution between the two models was masterful.

Undoubtedly, the Cota 311 had a much more trialist mood, also standing out for its power and lightness.

In terms of suspension, it did maintain the trend of its predecessor, mounting an inverted fork at the front that would also be maintained in its successor, the
Montesa Cota 314
, and a particular rear suspension system whose shock absorber is in an oblique position.
At the time it was common to mount a soft seat on the Montesa Cota 311 to provide more comfort to the rider on long excursions, since during this time it was very common for most Trial fans to travel a significant number of kilometers through the mountain.
