EVO 300 MY 2023 BETA test: “personality and exclusivity galore”

After analysing all the new features of the Beta EVO 2023 range on video, we take the controls of the latest version manufactured by the Italian brand, which now has fifteen editions of the EVO saga.

Despite its continuity and conservative aspect, no one doubts the deep personality contained in the Beta EVO, which we try to unravel in this video. Its best endorsement is that Beta continues to be one of the three best-selling brands worldwide within the trial sector, having also celebrated the titles of Trial2 and Trial3 world champions in this 2022 season.

As you well know, the EVO saga is manufactured in two ranges: standard, which occupies this report, and factory.

The EVO Beta 2023 It has been produced since September 2022 and is no longer available at the beginning of 2023, at which time production of the Beta EVO Factory 2023, which, as far as we have been able to learn, will not undergo any major changes with respect to the Beta EVO Factory 2022.

Between the two “EVO” there is an economic difference of approximately €1,000. In this report we are going to assess whether this premium of the Factory range is really interesting, and if the standard EVO offers performance differences that penalize it. To do this, Chema Quer has the help of Adrián Saavedra, monitor of the Trialworld Store and expert in Beta, a brand with which he has been linked since 2012.

In this video we talk about all the news of the EVO 2023 Beta:

EVO 300cc 2023 Beta Test

We get behind the wheel of the 2023 Beta EVO 300cc in a test session that stretches over two days, the last being when we recorded the video.

As far as Chema gives us, it has historically had less contact with a Beta EVO, since in recent years it has piloted with other brands. In its personality you are always surprised by that exclusive character, which leads you to look for the boot on the left side and enjoy an absolutely groundbreaking aesthetic, with a truly excellent quality of finishes.

What is most surprising is the great performance of its mechanics: “It looks like there are two bikes in one; In the underbody, the engine is smooth and progressive, which gives you extra control when driving. The moment you open the throttle with gusto, you have one of the best mid-rev engines on the market, a feeling that is confirmed even at the high rev range. The clutch is very precise and works in perfect synchrony with the engine, firing with a lot of enthusiasm when you rev up and release the clutch.”

In terms of suspension, there are also great sensations. It is true that its rear Ollé is not as commercially powerful as a Reiger or an Öhlins, but it has virtues that are very noteworthy. In our opinion, it may seem a bit lazy at first impression, but that dynamically translates into a plus, for example when climbing steps, as the shock helps to perfectly copy the obstacle.

The front end is very balanced, with great feel and efficiency of the suspension, but also because of its extraordinary steering angle. Here, the Beta EVO is unbeatable.

We expand on these sensations in the video of the dynamic test of the EVO 2023 that you can find below.

Beta EVO 300 2023 Conclusions

Within the richness offered by the trial market, we have more cutting-edge motorcycles at a technological level, two-stroke, four-stroke or even electric. And within them, different personalities and strengths.

At Beta, the philosophy is relatively different from the rest of the brands. They have a product that works in the area of effectiveness , having shown that it is not necessary to make very disruptive changes every so often to make the project work. At Beta they have opted for exclusivity and reliability, which leads them to evolve the bike with less risk, prioritizing that it is a timeless bike, capable of aging very well, preserving its qualities. This explains why Beta has a very loyal audience and why the “betista” rarely considers changing brands. Beta builds your loyalty from the moment you take the helm.

In our opinion, the standard Beta EVO is at a very high level and the extra outlay to the “factory” model is not really a mandatory step, as the mechanical and suspension upgrades are not very relevant. That said, the standard model does have to make small investments in the standard EVO, such as incorporating the closed transmission ring or the “man overboard” stop system. These are very simple aspects, but for this reason it is always appreciated that they can be incorporated into the strict series unit.

Finally, let’s talk about price. In the midst of escalating production costs and final prices, the €7,400 that the Beta EVO 2023 costs are still reasonable, knowing that the “Factory” of Beta and the rest of the brands are going to comfortably exceed €8,000. In this way, the price of the Beta EVO 2023 is attractive and you have ahead of you a bike with extensive travel in the field of performance and reliability. It’s a bike with which you can make plans for the future and it won’t let you down.

Aesthetically, this 2023 is an “all red”, the corporate color of the brand. A bike that, as is often the case, wins even more in the melee.
