Tutorial on changing engine oil on a trial bike

Changing the oil on the trial bike is a simple and absolutely basic task to ensure the durability of all the mechanics. In addition, it has a direct impact on the performance of such a fundamental element in trials as the clutch.

The periodicity for changing the transmission oil on a trial bike for sporadic amateur use could be determined in approximately every 6 months. However, this reference will depend on the hours of use and the demanding context to which the motorcycle has been subjected. It is important to keep in mind that oil also loses properties over time, so if on a motorcycle that has not been used for more than a year, it is always advisable to replace the engine transmission oil.
To correctly change the transmission oil of a trial bike, all you have to do is follow these simple steps that we describe below.

TRANSMISSION OIL CHANGE PRODUCT & TOOLS

> First of all, you should find out how much and what type of oil your trial bike has. Most commonly, it’s a 75W. We recommend and use the new Repsol Transmission 75w, available in the Trialworld Store,

on our bikes.
> The other interesting option is the
NILS Clutch Transmission Trial engine oil
, the same that is equipped as standard by brands such as Gas Gas or TRS, also available in the
Trial lubricants section of the Trialworld Store
.

> A canister used to act as a wedge and facilitate the extraction of the oil if the emptying is done from the side.
> Optionally, we can use this
specimen to measure the oil
that we are going to pour on the motorcycle. Remember that the boat itself is also marked with measurements.

STEPS TO FOLLOW TO CHANGE THE OIL ON A TRIAL BIKE

> First of all, we start the bike for 3 or 4 minutes to warm up the oil and facilitate the emptying operation.
> We then support the bike in such a way that it is slightly inclined towards the place of the emptying screw. Now we’re ready to loosen the drain screw and extract all the oil from the engine. It’s a good idea to move the bike slightly from side to side to ensure that it comes out completely.
Trial motorcycle oil change
> We already have an empty bike. Now it’s time to tighten the drain screw. We’ll probably see that the tip of the magnetized screw has picked up some internal chip from the motor. We proceed to remove it with a little paper.
> Now it’s time to proceed with the filling with the new oil. Locate and loosen the filling screw. The
Repsol Transmission 75W
canister has a small built-in funnel, which facilitates the filling operation. Another alternative is to use a piece of cardboard rolled up in the shape of a cone or another funnel. It is important to calculate exactly how much oil we add to the motorcycle.
> Once the new oil is already inside the engine, we tighten the filler screw again. Now it is convenient to start the bike and thus put the new oil into internal circulation.
