TRRS One 2018 Review

Achieving such a level of excellence and effectiveness in just three generations is almost a utopia. At TRRS they have been able to create and evolve a motorcycle suitable for all audiences. Powerful, but docile. Light, but with aplomb. In addition, with a point of exclusivity that gives it a special chemistry.

You don’t have to go back too many years to understand where
TRS Motorcycles
came from and why it was born. In 2015 the production of the “One” model began with a professional team that knew very well what it wanted from the first moment. With
Jordi Tarrés
as a leading figure in the field of development, he and the rest of the team opted for a bike that was not an exceptionally disruptive concept, but that made a difference in terms of behaviour and sensations.
TRS ONE 2018
The One 2018 symbolizes the certainty that the line is correct. The third year is usually the key moment when a project evolves solidly or ends up giving way to a new idea. At TRS they are committed to an assembly line in continuous evolution so that they do not wait for the next range to introduce the new changes en masse, but the improvements are incorporated according to the quality and production standards.
TRS ONE 2018
This
2018 TRRS One
is the brand’s base model. In this edition , both the mechanical part and the cycle part have been worked on. In its engine we find a new design of the cylinder head, modifications to the crankshaft and small modifications to the wiring of the CDI.
At the chassis level , punctual reinforcements have been made to the frame and it receives a newly designed fuel tank, with better finishes and greater capacity. The R16V shock also debuts new settings and the decoration of the model has been updated, but maintaining the corporate essence of the brand.

IN-DEPTH TEST TRRS ONE

At a time when most of the limelight is taken by the “Factory” or “Racing” models, it seems that the standard versions are decaffeinated. And perhaps it’s to consider the opposite. The standard models are sufficiently prepared and the “Factory” models are very vitaminized.

At first glance, TRRS is already a charm. Its double-beam aluminium frame already shows its commitment to quality and differentiation. This is one of the key points of the bike. Its lines are reminiscent of the Cota 4RT, but with nuances in the steering tube and its central trunk. At the controls, the feel is one of full poise and very familiar geometries from the get-go. It’s easier than usual to stay balanced; The driving position tends to be low and rearward, putting weight on the rear end to promote traction and providing a great feeling of lightness at the front. A lightness that, far from causing inaccuracies and a lack of poise in the lines, confirms that the TRRS is a bike that is as effective on one wheel as it is on the track. Without a doubt, for us the chassis and its geometries are probably the best thing about this bike.

In the suspension section, the One entrusts the front end to a fantastic Tech fork similar to the one equipped with most models on the market. At the back, we have an R16V monoshock. A priori it is what most tarnishes this great bike, but dynamically the sensations are much better than expected. It is a comfortable, effective and fast shock absorber. It brings joy and agility to the rear end in all areas, although in large receptions or strong obstacles it does not have the absorption capacity of a Reiger with three-way regulation such as that of the Raga Racing. The
Reiger for the TRRS
is a component that can also be purchased separately at a price of €991.

In the mechanical field , we are dealing with a very elastic and easy-to-squeeze propeller. In this test we expressly asked for a 250 model, which is our preferred displacement due to the great compromise between control and power that it offers throughout its rev range. The engine pushes from low revs forcefully and in a very predictable way, making it easy to squeeze on any terrain. Also contributing to this point is the fact that the clutch is very progressive, quick to react, but without being an “on-off” switch. The gearbox, on the other hand, is precise and smooth.

THE BEST AND THE IMPROVABLE

In short, this is one of the benchmark models on the market, both in terms of concept and performance. We highlight, as we have said, its large frame for the poise and efficiency it brings to the pilot. We like its engine for its elasticity and the predictability of its reactions. All the components of the bike are of high quality and the level of finishes is outstanding, with a few exceptions. For example, the plastic exhaust outlet needs new solutions so that they don’t end up splitting its delicate inner tabs with use. The new tank achieves a surprising autonomy, but because it has more depth, the tap and the choke knob get in each other’s way, although it is more for convenience than functionality.

A nice touch, on the other hand, is the air filter solution. By removing the lid, it slides down a rail to its correct place, without tools and very comfortably. Another good point is that you can change the oil on both sides of a very mechanically accessible engine.

For those who have fallen into the nets of the new
TRRS Raga Racing 2018
, we conclude by pointing out some of the most significant differences between the two models. Change the handlebars, shock absorber and fork, the front brake is Braktec “monoblock” from the powerparts catalog, the Keihin carburetor, S3 Curve footpegs, the radiator and several “racing” aesthetic finishes of the bike.
Both the 2018 TRRS One and the 2018 TRRS Raga Racing are available in 125, 250, 280 and 300cc displacements.
The price of the TRRS One 2018 is €6,750 and the price of the TRRS Raga Racing 2018 is €7,299
