Toni Bou dominates at the start of the National TR1

BOU NACIONAL14The 2014 Spanish Trial Championship kicked off today for the TR1 in Sigüenza with the solid dominance of Toni Bou, who only accumulated three penalty points on his card, ahead of Albert Cabestany and Adam Raga. This same order was the one that these riders occupied last Friday in the final round of the Indoor Trial World Championship, and it is also the order in which they have finished in the championship.

Therefore, few surprises in Sigüenza, a Trial dominated by long sections and large steps that have forced pilots to work as hard as they can to do not penalize for time in the zones, forcing you to sacrifice even some feet so as not to incur a fiasco by exceeding the established minute and a half.

Behind Bou, Cabestany and Raga were Jeroni Fajardo, Jorge Casales, Pol Tarrés, Jaime Busto, Oriol Noguera and Gianluca Tournour.

In TR2, a category with only 6 participants, victory for Miquel Gelabert, followed by one of our test riders, Marcos Méndez, and Arnau Farré completing the podium.

DECLARATIONS

Toni Bou: “Being the first to start among the riders in my group, tackling the unreferenced sections, causes some concern, but I felt comfortable and strong, so I was able to make a difference quite quickly. Undoubtedly, this has been the best way to start disconnecting from the Indoor trials and get into the rhythm of the Outdoor trials, before a season in which we are going to continue working as we have done so far with the sole objective of maintaining the number 1”.

Albert Cabestany: “I’m very satisfied with today’s result. I arrived at this weekend with all my energy focused on the indoor world championship, and despite the fact that in Spain we still do trial regulations, the type of areas are very different, and I was not very clear about it before starting the race. But I felt very comfortable, I had a good time giving the gas and I achieved a good second place. The sections were long, and I paid for the desire not to penalize an extra point for time with 3 ones and a 5 more, otherwise we could have been a little closer to Toni. But in general, nothing to reproach today, happy with the result and the riding. We have worked very well with the team, and there has never been a lack of pace in outdoor races. Now it’s time for a big change of mindset, in two weeks the World Cup starts, and I have to get my act together with the non-stop!”

Adam Raga: I failed in the first few zones, in zones 2, 4 and 5, mainly. The rest of the areas, I think I did quite well because it was complicated; they were long areas without much reference, since only Toni had passed. We also had to manage the time because the race was quite delayed. I felt good physically, and only with those mistakes at the start, with some mistakes in line and technique. Toni has done really well.”
