Success in the tough 2 Days of Santigosa Classic 2019

The eleventh edition of the legendary race was held this weekend in Sant Joan de les Abadesses with more than 150 riders registered.

On Saturday, from the emblematic Plaça Major, exactly 145 drivers took the start in this new edition of the 2DTSC.
Punctually at nine o’clock, the first rider started the first day of trial in Santigosa. Ahead, two days and about 40 different zones, between 18 and 20 daily zones, depending on the category of the riders, which are generally characterized by the good condition of the terrain and great scenic beauty, among many other attributes that the pilots and followers of the race highlight.

The first day took place normally with good weather and dry terrain, giving way to a more demanding trial due to the obvious complication of the circuit on Sunday.
On the second day, rain marked the departure of the riders. It has rained practically all morning and at many times with some intensity. The quick reaction of the Moto Club Abadesses, with the change of layout of some areas, minimised the effect of the heavy rains and the day passed without too many incidents.
Some riders have retired in the face of this heavy rainfall and others have suffered more mechanical breakdowns than is perhaps usual. All those who have been able to complete the test do so with great satisfaction, since, finally, they have achieved some 2DTSC with some hardness but of the most characteristic: rain, water, mud, cold…
Unfortunately, some of the most characteristic areas have been cancelled, also in this edition, by the restrictions of the Environment resolution.
Despite the difficulties, the 2DTSC continues to be a meeting point for those who are passionate about the original essence of trial.
An unmissable opportunity for runners and also for visitors who can see in the centre of the square, the bikes that have marked the history of trial. We highlight the participation of one hundred percent original Triumph or BSA motorcycles and the first models of Montesa, Bultaco and Ossa. The race ended around 3:30 p.m. In the same Plaça Major, the awards ceremony was held, which ended with a family photo with the authorities, the members of the Abadesses Moto Club and the award-winning riders.
Regarding the classifications, in the PRE-65 category, the victory of Antoni Guillen stands out, accompanied on the podium by Mick Grant, second with a tie on points and Darren Walker, third.
Alberto Selma, Josep Vidal and Vicente Montoro complete the classification of the PRE-72 category. Phil Houghton wins the PRE-80 category. In second and third place, Jordi Tarruella and Robin Luscombe.
In the rest of the categories, the victories went to Antoni Buixadé (Classic Initiation), Josep M. Bargalló (Classics); Valentí Fontseré (Trialists) and the Englishman Kiaran Hankin (Experts).
