Nachette Fernandez tests the 2021 Electric Motion EPure Race

For the first time, Nachette Fernández gets behind the controls of an electric trial motorcycle and subjects it to a stress test on various types of terrain, drawing interesting conclusions about the adaptation and advantages of this type of engine.

Motorcycle Trial Offers
Taking advantage of the unity of Electric Motion EPure Race 2021 that Trialworld School has for trial courses, Nachette Fernandez, a good friend and renowned rider with extensive experience in offroad motorcycles, decided to make a review of this Electric Motion, not knowing at all what he was going to find when he took the helm.

First of all, before we get into it, we explain three key points to Nachette: “There’s no gearbox, the clutch is an add-on that you should only use in case of great need, and that the engine has three power maps that you need to learn to manage. First of all, you have to keep in mind that we are talking about an electronic throttle, so your head must understand how it reacts on the different maps and know how to manage the inertia of the electric motor.”
In 2013, Nachette already got on the first version of the Gas Gas TXE (which has nothing to do with the current one), and about which he stated that “even then it was very far away in terms of performance and level of an explosion bike”.

Among the curiosities of the first sensations is that “you can even hear how you breathe, because there are no noises, except for the natural impacts of obstacles”. And he stressed that “for amateur level you could even do better things with the electric motorcycle than the petrol one, while for high level, like mine, perhaps I would still have to adapt a lot to know if I am capable of reaching the level of my 2T”.
In the area, Nachette highlighted its traction and the difference in performance depending on the maps it used. In fact, in the video there is a trial where he uses all three maps and finally takes out the area with the softest, which has less torque, but more grip.

As for stone areas, according to Nachette “It’s where it’s the hardest for him a priori, but he defended well.” “A plus point is that the bike is automatic, so you don’t have to keep an eye on the gearbox and it makes things easier”. And another key point, the clutch: “I’m surprised that it’s even better to ride without the clutch, but there’s a difference with the one on the combustion bike. I see a small delay compared to the combustion bike, mainly because you don’t know in the first few hours when the clutch really comes out, whereas in a 2T you already notice when it is coming out.”

Speaking of the range, “after riding for two or three hours we end up with a 50% charge, so the equivalence of consumption will be similar to a tank of an explosion motorcycle”.
