EVO Beta Test Top Trial Team Preparation

Beta EVO TTT 1
We tested a very exclusive Beta EVO

Taking advantage of the celebration of the first Trial course of the season at the Trialworld School, We carried out a very special dynamic test with the collaboration of Roberto Arenas “Arenitas”: a Beta Evo 290 2011 and only 68kg in weight, exact replica of the unit used by Jack Challoner in the Top Trial Team in the Trial World Championship.

Before we delve into explaining the sensations it transmits, let’s review the improvements it has compared to the production model and that give it the Top award.

• Showa rear suspension.

• Full Arrow Escape.

• DID lightened rear rim.

• Bossioffroad racing clutch and caliper. + S3 Springs

• Reprogrammed ignition SOR mapping.

• Toptrial & Stormgrafix Trialworld edition sticker kit.

DYNAMIC TESTING

Beta EVO TTT2
Demanding yet effective

The engine of this Beta EVO revs up with great ease thanks to the manifold and exhaust silencer signed by Arrow, which also provide an exquisite sound and save almost a kilo of weight to the whole. Regarding the standard exhaust, It loses some performance in the low rev range, but in return it offers a truly amazing stretch. Lighter weight: almost 1 kg less weight compared to the standard exhaust, which offers slightly more bass than this Arrow but stretches much less.

The clutch, signed by Bossioffroad, is one of the most demanding elements for driving. As usual, among the “top” clutches they have a large preload, making it hard and physically demanding for an amateur driver. The peculiarity is that it has a smaller diameter caliper -27 mm, compared to the 28mm of the standard and 30mm of the 2013 series-, causing a faster and more energetic feeling.

The clutch springs are longer and signed by S3 , causing it, as we mentioned before, to be harder, but they also contribute positively to correct the clutch slip problems that the stock bike sometimes has, especially in hot weather.

The entire set of exhaust, clutch, cylinder head preparation and reprogrammed ignition give this EVO a personality marked by its fulminant response and homogeneous behavior. As you can guess, it responds particularly well to the demands of higher-level pilots.

Regarding the chassis of this unit, the strong point is, in addition to the good performance and lightness offered by the front axle, the fact that it has a Showa shock absorber adapted from a Montesa Cota 4RT. It invites you to play permanently; Jumps, steps, overhangs and rear shifts are made easy and above all fun, as well as providing great stability and traction to the whole with respect to the standard shock absorber.

We should also note that this Showa shock weighs 500grm. more than the Ollé of the production model, although in our opinion the difference in performance more than justifies this overweight.

Exclusive decoration and materials in this special edition

These mechanical improvements, together with the investment of the rest of the material mentioned together with the graphics of Toptrial and Stormgrafix, made expressly for Trialworld, we can corroborate that they greatly improve any version of Beta Evo.

The last detail to mention is the price of this preparation. All these extras add up to a cost of close to €3,000, which means an overall price of the bike and preparation that is around €9,000.
