Bou sweeps Italy’s GP

bou_face_480Toni Bou took his fifth win of the year at the Italian GP, ahead of his main rival, Adam Raga. With this victory, the rider from Piera is practically assured of the renewal of the world title, as his points advantage at the head of the provisional standings rises to 18 points with four races to go. The third step on the podium went to Fujinami, who had a nice fight for this place with Fajardo and Cabestany, finally being resolved in the same order.

Italy has been the fifth stage of the 2011 World Cup and sixth round of the World Cup. Toni Bou has won all the races except the first day of the French event, where he was third; consequently, Toni’s numbers in the 2011 campaign point towards a new world title. Now there are four races ahead, two of them to be held in Japan, with the consequent problems that, as you have read in Trialworld, is leading to the FIM’s decision to finally organize this G.P.

Apparently, Adam Raga is one of the few drivers who does want to go to Japan. In fact, the only option he has to try to hunt down Bou is by disputing the 80 points that remain at stake. Cabestany has already stated that he will not be in Japan, something that could mean losing his provisional third place and losing to Raga in the fight for the runner-up, but as the Sherco rider explains in these statements, the decision is more than justified.

Among all these problems, the Italian GP was disputed, which closed with Toni Bou as the clear winner and Adam Raga as the rider with the lowest partial of the day. The 4 points recorded in the first round already showed their overwhelming superiority, as their strongest rivals, Cabestany and Raga, accumulated 10 and 13 points on their cards, respectively. Behind them were Fajardo and Fujinami, with 14 and 21 points.

raga_acc_460The key to the trial has been in zones 6 and 7, although unlike other events, there have been no decisive areas where only one or two riders have passed it. In fact, despite the fact that Raga or Cabestany have scored fiascos in these areas, in the next or previous lap they have managed to overcome them cleanly. In Italy, therefore , perseverance, concentration and not making more mistakes than should have prevailed .

All the leading riders improved their times in the second pass through the zones, except for the provisional second-placed rider, Cabestany, who made mistakes in zones 13 and 15 that cost him this second place and catapulted him to the final fifth. Raga set the best lap of the day with only one point, while Fujinami also set a spectacular record of 5 points that allowed him to overtake Fajardo and Cabestany, signing his second consecutive podium and third of the season.

In the provisional standings, Bou remains in the lead with 18 points over Raga, who extends his lead over Cabestany to 11 points. Fujinami is in the fight for the top 3 and is already just two points behind the Sherco rider, while Fajardo, fifth, is a bit far away -11 points- but he must be taken into account.

Before Japan will come the G.P. of Great Britain. We will keep you informed of all the news.

At the Italian GP the OSSA TR 280 2012 was presented, which you can see in these photos and video.

In Junior, Alfredo Gómez has conceded for the second time in a row this season, missing out on the podium for the first time, but remaining solidly at the head of the championship. In Italy, the victory was, for the second time in a row, for Alexandre Ferrer, who in three races has scored 53 points and if he had participated in the first three he would surely be higher. This detail counts in favor of the rest of the Spaniards, since Moret -second in Italy- and Tarrés -third- are the candidates to fight with Gómez for the Junior title.
