Benito Ros Elite 20″ World Champion

nacional_avila3Benito Ros has confirmed his status as a trial legend by winning his ninth elite title in the 20″ category last night in Saalfekden, with a new national double as the silver went to Abel Mustieles, with the Frenchman Vicent Hermance completing the podium. The Navarrese rider thus continues his streak that began in 2002 and was only broken in 2006, when he won bronze.

Although the Aragonese started very strongly, Ros took the lead on the first lap. Mustieles counterattacked in the second but not enough to overcome the 33 points of the Navarrese, remaining at 36.5, while the Frenchman added 41. Ion Areitio, with 45 , was not far from Hermance showing that he will soon reach a universal podium, while Carles Díaz Codina, the fourth Spaniard in this final, finished eighth.

In juniors, on the other hand, the predictions of the qualifying did not come true , as the German Rápale Pils won with authority, with only 15 penalty points, compared to the 28 of the second classified, the Frenchman Maxime Mufat, completing the podium the Swiss Lucien Leiser.

Bernat Seuba was fifth, with 41 points, and Eloi Paré, sixth, with 53. Precisely this rider closes tonight the Spanish presence in the Trial World Championship, with his participation in the final of 26″, from seven in the evening. Two hours later, the absolute final, with no Spanish representation and with the Frenchman Gilles Coustellier as the great favourite.
