Matteo Grattarola (Sembenini Nils Redmoto Montesa), Marco Mempor (Beta) and Andrea Soulier (Beta) were the “fastest” riders at the Monza circuit. Although it may sound like a paradox, the European Championship drivers have competed in the second scoring race in the vicinity of the Monza speed circuit, where 20 years ago a round of the Italian national championship was already held.
In the highest category of the championship, Grattarola and Gabriel Marcelli (Montesa) repeated the fight of a week ago in Pietramurata, with one of the areas marked on the bankment of the circuit itself being decisive, with a very narrow turn where Grattarola took advantage by passing it cleanly on both laps.
With a total of 12 points, the Italian driver remained in the lead, followed by Marcelli with 19 points. In third place, Arnau Farrè García (Jotagas) with 23 points.
Mempor dominated in the Junior class, securing the final victory by scoring only 7 points on the first lap to improve to 6 on the second. The second classified was Andrea Gabutti (TRRS) and third Michele Andreoli (Vertigo), who beat Gil Vila (Gas Gas) in the final tiebreaker (both with 23 points).
In the “over 40” class, the winner was Soulier after breaking the tie with Markus Kipp (TRRS), both with one point on his card, followed by John Van Veelen (Gas Gas) with two points.
The third round of the European Trial Championship will be in Ancelle, France, from August 10 to 11.
