Toni Bou completes the Japanese GP with a double victory

After the resounding victory of
Toni Bou
on the first day of the
Japanese TrialGP GP,
marked by the harshness of some areas with water and mud, on the second day of competition the circumstances have returned to normal.
With the terrain already dry, the sections were more accessible and the gaps between the leading riders narrowed. If yesterday Raga was excessively accused of starting at the front, without references and in areas that improved according to the riders, today the starting order was not so decisive.

Toni Bou started with a great pace and was the only rider capable of ten points in the first pass through the sections, giving him a comfortable gap over
Adam Raga
and
Cabestany
that would be decisive to achieve the final victory. On the second lap Bou encountered problems in zone 11 and 13, which could well have cost him first place, as Raga, with only nine points on this lap, completed the race just one point behind the winner. He had to add one more point as a time penalty.

The podium was completed by a great Cabestany, who was regular in his race results. Fajardo was fourth, just three points off the podium, followed by Fujinami, Busto and Dabill, who could not repeat yesterday’s podium.

Trial2
victory for Iwan Roberts, followed by two Spanish riders: Francesc Moret and Marc Riba.

VIDEO ADAM RAGA JAPAN GP DAY 2

Toni Bou #TrialGP – 1st

It couldn’t be better, this weekend. Despite suffering a lot today, because the race was extremely easy, with a lot of pressure because it was possible to make mistakes that would have complicated the final result. But we were able to fix it with a zero in the last section and win the race. I’m happy that I was able to withstand the pressure and I want to thank the team for a great job this weekend. We’ll see how the next races go, but we’ve made a good start to the World Championship.

Adam Raga #TrialGP – 2nd

I’m very happy with how things went on the second day, especially after yesterday’s disappointment, as starting at the front the sections changed a lot compared to those behind them. Today I was able to ride much better, doing great sections that made the difference and great sensations. I also want to congratulate the rest of the team for their great work and results

Jeroni Fajardo #TrialGP – 4th

On Saturday, after a first lap in which I felt very good, I suffered a physical slump in the second, I guess because of a cold that I have carried with me since I arrived here in Japan. In the end, a 4th place very close to the podium and the second position. On Sunday we are back in the quarter-finals. Very good race. On the first lap I dropped a few too many, but on the second I pushed and almost made it to the podium. I’m very happy to come out of this race with provisional third place.

Takahisa Fujinami #TrialGP – 5th

It was a shame because I think I was in a position to repeat yesterday’s podium. I had a small problem with the chain in one of the easy sections and I think it was fatal, because I didn’t win the final prize. The fifth is not bad, but with how close the day was, to think that I could have been next to Toni… It tastes bad to me. But I’m happy with how this weekend went, to be racing again in Japan and to all the crowd that cheered me on non-stop from zone 1 to fifteen. Thank you so much to all the fans.

Jaime Busto #TrialGP – 6th

Even though the result is the same as yesterday, sixth, I think I was a bit better. On the first lap I was given a very strict ‘5’ and I failed a lot in the last sections, which were quite easy. On the second lap I fell into zone 3 and from then on I finished the trial almost without penalty. It’s a shame because I haven’t been able to fix the mess of the first round.

Marc Riba #Trial2 – 2nd

Of course I’m very happy with how the second day of competition went. On the first lap I made mistakes, but fortunately I managed to overcome it and make a great second pass through the sections that allowed me to reach my first podium in the world championship. I’m very happy about it and I thank the whole team for their work

Eric Miquel #Trial125 – 3rd

The trial was very complicated, with little traction and a lot of mud, this has caused me some mistakes that, however, we have been able to compensate and achieve the podium in both days. I’m happy because I think this result can be improved and we have the bike, the riding and the ability to win races this year

Miquel Cirera – Montesa Team Manager

Today was a different race than yesterday, much drier, simpler, and so everything is very equal and mistakes are costly, and you are left without a podium. Toni has worked hard to win. We have to admit that Adam Raga has had a great race, worthy of a great rival as he is. Fujinami has fought, like Jaime, and they haven’t been rewarded. They’ve done extraordinary things, especially Jaime, but they’ve made mistakes and in a World Cup, it’s a high price. We will continue to work and I have to acknowledge the great work that the team has done in this race that, although we are not “at home”, we have everything. We will keep fighting. See you in Europe.

Jordi Tarrés – Team Manager TRS Motorcycles

I am very happy. For the second time, in our second year of life, we are represented in all categories. In 125 with only one rider we have achieved two podiums. The same in Trial2, where we have more riders with the ability to be at the top. In TrialGP Adam has had a very good season and today’s second place was a victory. I would like to highlight the work of the team, we are very united, with good vibes and we are the envy of the whole paddock.
