Toni Bou
has won the first day of the Japanese Grand Prix, the second round
of the 2017 Trial World Championship
. This is the first GP of this season to be held over two points, in the context of a highly demanding route where rain and mud have been the main protagonists. For Bou, “winning at Honda’s home is always important to me.”
Despite the hefty scores, the podium was hotly contested. Second place finally went to James Dabill, who equalled his best result in the world championship in his first season with
Gas Gas
. One of the keys was his pole position on the qualifying day, which allowed him to leave Bou and accumulate very valuable information during the first lap. The third place went to local idol

One of the surprises has been not finding Adam Raga on the podium, and despite completing the course just three points behind Fujinami, the fifth position signed by the rider from TRS Motorcyclesafter Jeroni Fajardo, makes it difficult for him to keep up with the World Champion. He blamed his poor qualifying yesterday for forcing him to start in the leading group, without the reference of his main rivals. Fajardo, on the other hand, has had a career from more to less, penalized by a physical slump due to a cold.
In Trial2 victory for Gael Chatagno, who beat Francesc Moret and Iwan Roberts. Gabriel Marcelli was sixth, Aniol Gelabert twelfth and Marc Riba rounding out the top 15. His teammate, Sam Obradò, finished sixteenth.
In Trial125 we highlight the third position of Eric Miquel in his second race of the world championship. The Spanish rider has taken to the podium the new TRS One 125 prototype that will begin to be marketed in the second half of the year.

I’m very happy with this start of the championship, with how I went on the bike, especially. It’s been two races in the wet, which isn’t what I’m best at, but I’m starting to get used to this… The race was complicated, and the victory is very important not only because the rivals have had different results, but also because it is the race “at Honda’s home” and all the directors come to see us. A perfect start and I hope that tomorrow the race can continue to be selective; It’s very easy to make mistakes here and we’ll try to fight for another victory.
Takahisa Fujinami:
This podium is very important to me. It’s not just another podium, it’s a podium at home, at Honda’s, too. It’s my first podium of the season, and I achieved it in a very difficult race, every lap the same area was different and the race was very tight between those of us who wanted the podium. Well, Toni aside. I’m very happy for this third position. Tomorrow we’ll fight again to finish up there. It won’t be easy, but as always we will try.
