Toni Bou 2022 Trial World Champion

Toni Bou was proclaimed
2022 Trial World Champion
on the first day of the Italian GP, after an absolutely impressive season with seven wins and three second places.

In this first race of the Italian GP the winner was the local rider Matteo Grattarola, who climbed in the final classification to fourth position, beating Jeroni Fajardo and Gabriel Marcelli.

Toni Bou has won a total of 131 out of 237 races in TrialGP.

The runner-up position went to Jaime Busto, ahead of Adam Raga, third in this edition of the Trial World Championship.

Toni Bou has once again won a world championship demonstrating solvency, consistency and superiority. Although Jaime Busto made things difficult for him in the first half of the season, Toni Bou's greater experience in race management and the fact that he did not fail, have allowed the rider from Montesa to continue to expand his track record in such a convincing way.

BUSTO RUNNER-UP AND RAGA THIRD

Although it seemed that this season the world championship was more open than ever, the reality is that only in the first half of the championship was there any doubt about whether there would indeed be a rider with a real chance of challenging Toni Bou for the title.

We have seen victories for Busto, Raga and Grattarola, but none of them have found the immense consistency needed to beat a rider with the experience and ability of Toni Bou.

With such a tight schedule of competitions and a relatively high level, mistakes are very costly. For this reason, despite the fact that Toni Bou has given up first place on three occasions, it has not been an inconvenience to arrive in Italy in a very comfortable way, where the first day was practically enough for him to finish the race. His second place on Saturday speaks to his hunger for victory and the non-conformity that defines the most successful driver of all time in terms of sporting achievements.

Toni Bou celebrates the 2022 Trial World Championship with his team

toni bou (WORLD CHAMPION)"I'm very happy with how the weekend went. Today I had less pressure, although it was difficult because it was an easy race in which you couldn't make many mistakes. In fact, I got a five for stopping in the fifth section, an area that was quite easy, and then I had to go and recover. At that point, Adam Raga was still at zero, Matteo Grattarola only had 3 penalty points and I already had 6. It wasn't easy, but we fought well and got a win with a very good last lap, scoring only 1 point. I'm very happy and grateful to the team. Once again, we have had a very good season, with 7 wins, 3 second places and without getting off the podium. The team has worked hard but we have room to keep improving. We're working the bike and I'm sure we'll keep taking steps forward."
