Beta Rev3 270 2007
Abducted by the charms of its sister, the new Rev4t, the eighth Rev3 saga has received an important evolutionary boost that completes the good manners of its chassis part, and in the process, consolidates its position in the market by emerging as the most exclusive frame in the 2T segment in 2007

It is not easy for two roosters to live together in the same chicken coop, but in Beta they were clear that they were not going to be governed, like other brands, by the law of “a king dead, a king set”; The Italians are still relying on the great trial skills of Q2 And it will only be able to bury it, if nothing prevents it, from strict environmental regulations.

The great beneficiary of this time of change has been Rev3, which faces the new season with Big Improvements in all areas that reinforce, if possible, their exclusivity And it allows us to write the most important chapter in the history of this model in the everlasting battle against weight.

CHANGES IN THE REV3 2007 BETA

One of the big culprits is the new aluminium monocoque frame which, despite retaining geometries practically identical to those of its predecessor, is more compact and slender in its shapes thanks to smaller section beams, and, above all, lighter.

Another important novelty is the redesign of the steering posts , with the upper one being very light thanks to its smaller dimensions, and the lower one longer to hug the bottle by means of three screws. The rest of the novelties that we can see in the chassis part, such as the new hubs, brake discs, fork bridge and the variable diameter handlebars, are also directly responsible for the severe slimming diet that the new Rev3 has suffered.

Although the main objective was to lose weight, the Italian brand’s technicians have also worked to revive the reactions of its engine, modify some parameters of the gearbox and improve the start-up.

REV3 2007 BETA TEST

Despite the profound changes, the Rev3 continues to maintain its usual character , and is emerging as the perfect counterpoint to the competitive models offered by other brands, such as Sherco or Gas Gas. Its strong personality is latent from the first contact, and it is that the Italian bike has a lower and more rearward riding position than its rivals, ideal for long distances and XL size riders, but also to achieve a better compromise between stability and traction.

The excellent look of its sturdy aluminium frame can also be felt in the areas, as it is the strength of the Rev3 remains its behaviour in open spaces; That is where we can see her great skills as a tracer, because the front end has outstanding poise, and the place where we can best verify the great homogeneity of its cycle part.

On the other hand, when the terrain becomes more rugged and the smaller room to manoeuvre, yes toWe will take into account the limited agility and physical wear and tear produced by its 75 kilos in running order, An improved figure but still high if we compare it with the 72 kilos on average offered by its most direct rivals.

Luckily in trials, sensations are often more important than numbers, and, as we have once again seen, our protagonist is able to balance the scales with an outstanding set of suspensions.

At the back, the aPaioli mortiguser without linkages offers us one of lime and another of sand; The most interesting thing is its good absorption thanks to a smooth first third of travel and its ability to “forgive” small riding errors, while on the other hand it is more demanding for “top” areas than the traditional linkage system.

Up front we find no changes compared to past editions, its adjustable Paioli fork continues to enjoy a soft touch for the enjoyment of the average user and, once again, has its strong point in the excellent poise and stability it brings to the front train.

MECHANICS

Dynamically, the Italian engine has the best low-rev behavior in its category , forceful and fast at the accelerator, but with the sweetness of a “two and a half”. This rev range is where you can really see the big differences in the 270 kit, which is perfect for the most demanding riders and those looking for engines with a lot of torque. In medium and high revs, the differences are smaller , and in either case the response is linear, predictable and, above all, very elastic.

On the other hand, the Six-speed gearbox maintains its usual high level, where precision, smoothness, and an ideal ratio are complemented Both for the areas, thanks to a very usable first one, and for those who love the excursion, as the staggering between the last two relationships is perfect. Perhaps the most peculiar thing is the feel of its clutch , which, as usual, has a very sensitive last third of travel, ideal for the “top”, which helps to fire the engine at revs easily in the face of an obstacle.

In general terms, getting behind the controls of the Rev3 is a real festival of good feelings thanks to a very complete mechanics, first-class suspensions and like a good Italian it fuses the best qualities with a striking aesthetic that will not give rise to indifference.
