Jeroni Fajardo made his debut last Saturday on his Ossa Tr 280i, finishing in
fifth position
after failing to qualify for the final round. The rider from Ossa has only been working for 20 days on the adaptation of his new bike, which as you well know has very great technical particularities and the evolution of the bike is being fast, but it requires a lot of work for the results to come out so soon. We hope to have Jeroni’s statements soon about this first contact with his bike in high competition.
Ossa has evolved the TR 280i in record time, equipped with innovative technical solutions and supported by a great team of Trial specialists, such as Jeroni Fajardo himself, Marc Colomer (Team Manager) and Dani Oliveras (Chief Mechanic). We’ll see if the Ossa is competitive from the very beginning and makes its great lightness count in the technical indoor courses.

Here’s Trialworld’s in-depth test of the production bike.

Below is the full text of the press release sent by Ossa.

ossa_equipoThe bike that Jeroni Fajardo and Mireia Conde will ride in national and international trial competitions will not be very different from the production TR 280i that OSSA is already producing at its factory in Girona. It is a very light bike that will weigh 66 kg in outdoor competitions (as specified in the FIM regulations) but can reach 62 kg in indoor competitions since in this competition there is no weight restriction. For competition, the engine does not need any major retouching given the lightness of the bike, so only the number of laps will be delimited and the aesthetics in competition will vary.

OSSA’s racing bike  was presented last November at the EICMA Salon in Milan. The new TR 280i has been developed by OSSA’s team of engineers and technicians. In addition to its weight, the new OSSA bike incorporates numerous technical innovations such as weight redistribution or its revolutionary injection feeding system for the two-stroke engine.

As an innovative and enterprising Catalan company, OSSA has chosen an emblematic location in Barcelona for the presentation of its official team. Thus, in the “magical” fountain of Montjuïc, the OSSA team wanted to make clear its enthusiasm and commitment to the return of the clover brand to the competition.

Petromiralles main sponsor

The fuel and liquid fuel distributor Petromiralles will sponsor OSSA’s participation in the 2011 competition calendar. The team, the bike and all its materials will wear the logo of this Catalan company during this season. This agreement responds to the synergies and good harmony between the two companies that have signed a two-year agreement.

A team that combines experience and youth

Marc Colomer is the Team Manager of the OSSA team and is supported by Dani Oliveras, Chief Mechanic, Jordi Dalmau, Head of Logistics and Melchor Estorch, Assistant Driver. The OSSA Racing Team is part of the factory support team: Cisco Llord, Head of Mechanics at OSSA Factory, Grego Sánchez, Head of Injection and Josep Serra (Xiu), Head of Injection  Engineer at Ossa Factory.

The Pilots

Jeroni Fajardo, who is now 25 years old, participated in his first World Outdoor event at the age of 16. In 2010, Fajardo finished fifth in the World Indoor Championship standings. In the previous season he reached the second position in the Spanish Outdoor Trial Championship, the third in the Indoor modality and the fourth place in the Outdoor World Championship.

For her part, Mireia Conde was the 2010 world team champion at the last Trial of Nations held in Poland, thus revalidating a title she already won in 2008. She is currently among the top 6 female drivers in the World Championship. At 18 years old, Conde has been practicing trials since he was 8 and competing since he was 12. She has been runner-up twice in Spain (2008-2009) and three times champion in Catalonia (2007-2008 and 2010). His signing for OSSA is a definite boost to his sporting career.
