Presentation of the Cal Rosal GP Trial 9 and 10 April

After six years without him, the Trial World Championship returns to Catalonia, and will do so in the towns of Olvan and Colonia Cal Rosal on April 9 and 10 in a competition organized by the Moto Club Baix Berguedà. The event, the Catalan Trial Grand Prix, was presented yesterday at the Museum and Centre for Sport Studies, Dr. Melcior Colet, in Barcelona with the main sporting and political authorities who support the competition and also with the presence of the four Spanish outdoor Trial world champions: Jordi Tarrés, Marc Colomer, Adam Raga, Toni Bou.

The Secretary General of Sport of the Generalitat, Gerard Figueras, welcomed the Catalan Trial Grand Prix, proud that the top Trial competition returns to a territory where “it is part of its DNA”, with Catalan riders dominating the international scene. The secretary general also highlighted “the courage of the Moto Club Baix Berguedà for organizing this event”.

At the presentation, Rossend Soler, president of the Baix Berguedà Moto Club, also spoke, recalling “the enthusiasm of the people of the Moto Club”, who take on this challenge the same year that the club celebrates 25 years organizing races, “thanking everyone who helps to make our dream come true”. Àngel Viladoms, president of the Royal Spanish Motorcycling Federation, highlighted the level of the Catalan Trial, and was ” proud” of the name of this Catalan Grand Prix. Finally, David Font, president of the Berguedà Regional Council, underlined “the opportunity that the territory has by hosting this event and above all the opportunity for people to get to know and taste the Berguedà region”.

Also present were the director of the Consell Català de l’Esport, Toni Reig, the mayor of Olvan Martí Orriols, the representative of the International Motorcycling Federation, Josep Puntí and the president of the Catalan Motorcycling Federation Josep Abad.

The activity in Olvan and Cal Rosal will begin next Thursday, April 7, with the arrival of the first vehicles at the pilot park of the Colonia de Cal Rosal. On Friday there will be practice, technical checks and visits to the zones, as well as the photo at the start of the season with all the riders. On Saturday, the last rider to start will do so at 11 a.m. It is expected that, after four o’clock in the afternoon, there will be the presentation of trophies, and then autographs will be signed by the riders, an exhibition of bike trials and a demonstration of popular Catalan culture: the Castellers de Berga will form human towers. Sunday’s program will be the same as Saturday’s.

THE NEWS OF THIS WORLD CUP

The 2016 FIM Trial World Championship will start in Cal Rosal/Olvan with some new regulations in relation to its regulations. Unlike the Spanish Championship, the ‘non-stop’ system is applied, which penalises the rider if the bike stops moving forward. This is not new, but the change of name of the World Championship categories is: TrialGP is the highest level, Trial2 is the previous Junior category, and Trial125 the class for riders between 14 and 18 years old who race on motorcycles with 125cc engines. and two-strokes. There will also be the International category.
In Cal Rosal there will be a shopping area where fans can find the latest motorcycles and accessories. Another of the activities that this World Championship will announce will be a bicycle exhibition during the days of the race, as well as the signing of posters of the riders and a performance by the Castellers de Berga, which will take place on Saturday afternoon, when the trophy ceremony ends.
