Most of the 240 riders who competed in the 2nd edition of the 2 days of Trial Clàssic de Sat Julià de Lòria, left Andorra with the clear intention of returning within 365 days to once again enjoy a race that takes place in a privileged setting, with the addition that the obstacles are adapted to the level of riding of the participants. It is clear, of course, that in this respect the possibilities of the organisers are limited by the orography of the Andorran mountains.
The common denominator of the
classic trial
competition was the equality between the participants of the different categories. As can be seen, apart from the relatively comfortable victory of Oscar Mill in the BLUE category, in the rest, the leading positions have been decided by minimal differences.
A good part of the riders, who signed up for the Andorran classics race, had lived the experience last season and came mentally of what they would find on the field, this is what most of them told us:
Without a doubt, we have experienced two days in which we have been able to enjoy the sport that we like the most. It was very hard, especially because of the strong heat, but by having areas or inter-zones where there was water you could cool off and regain strength. As for the organization, I think they have done their job very well, there is no doubt that setting up a race of this magnitude must be complicated.
The former world champions, Mick Andrews, Yrjo Vesterinen and Bernie Schreiber, who completed the two days of competition, were very pleased, some even surprised, by the experience and did not hesitate to comment that, if the forces are good, we would see them again in Andorra.
The organisers lived, perhaps, the most tense moments in the dates before the participants began to arrive in Andorra, as they told us:
There is no doubt that the weather forecast made things very difficult for us. Trial is a sport that is practiced in the mountains and in the conditions in which they foresaw everything was more complicated. In addition, with 240 drivers competing in the event…
Thanks to everyone’s civility, we have been able to complete the two days without setbacks in this regard.
As for the usual development of the test, apparently, everything has developed normally: It’s true, we’ve had to make some tweaks along the way, but last season’s experience has also helped us. In spite of everything, what has emerged has not led to major changes. So, for example, we had to extend the entry time to the parc fermé, report some last-minute details… In short, nothing serious if we take into account that we had clearly expanded (from 160 to 240 pilots) the participation, with all that this entails.
Many of the participants have told us about the 3rd edition of the race, which can be said to them: Forthe time being, we want to relax a little from all these months of work that have involved the organization of this 2nd edition. At the moment, we value the development of the company very positively and we think that we still want to move forward. In any case, before making a firm decision, we want to look in detail at some of the aspects that we would like to improve and see the possibility we have of achieving it.
One of them may be the budget, we would like to offer something more to those who come to run and this in the current conditions is not possible.
The 2nd edition of the 2 days of Trial Classic in Sant Julià de Lòria is already part of the extensive curriculum of the Andorran trial. Everything seems to indicate that the event has a future, if it depends on the riders there is no doubt that it will continue.
