New evolution of the electric Yamaha TY-E 2.0

The market for electric trial motorcycles has been maturing and growing at a dizzying rate in recent years. On this occasion, Yamaha surprises us with the relaunch of the TY-E, a bike that we already saw in 2018 in prototype format competing in the Trial-E World Championship. The new 2022 prototype is presented under the name Yamaha TY-E 2.0

The new evolution of the Yamaha TY-E is part of Yamaha Motor Group’s environmental plan for 2050, which aims to achieve carbon neutrality across its entire product range.

Among the most important improvements we have a new monocoque chassis made of composite laminates, as well as a battery that multiplies by 2.5 times the capacity of the 2018 model. Mechanically, it maintains the automatic gearbox and mechanical clutch configuration, a line that we already see today in the Electric Motion

HE WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE TRIAL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

The Yamaha TY-E 2.0 will take part in the FIM Trial World Championship from June this year with Kenichi Kuroyama in the Yamaha Factory Racing Team, who also serves as a development rider.

The Yamaha TY-E 2.0 will also be on display at the Yamaha Motor booth at the 49th Tokyo Motorcycle Show to be held March 25-27.

OPTIMISED POWER UNIT

Compared to the 2018 electric Yamaha TY-E, traction has been improved, modifying elements such as the clutch and flywheel, together with a renewed electronic control management to obtain a more accurate reading of the traction changes on the bike.

NEW MONOCOQUE CHASSIS

In search of greater rigidity and lightness, Yamaha has designed a new monocoque frame made of composite laminates. At the same time, the position of the battery has been reconfigured to achieve an optimal center of gravity.

BATTERY WITH HIGHER CAPACITY

Range is one of the key elements to the appeal of electric trial bikes. In the case of the Yamaha TY-E, the battery has grown in autonomy 2.5 times compared to its predecessor, increasing the weight of the battery assembly by only 20%.
