Letter from Laia after leaving Montesa

As Trialworld exclusively announced a few days ago, Laia Sanz has personally announced the end of her career as a Montesa Honda rider, although in this same statement she does not specify that the team where she will be next year is Gas Gas.
From Trialworld we wish all the luck in the world to Laia Sanz in her new stage.
As of today, Friday 21st October 2011, I am no longer an official rider for Montesa Honda, a brand I signed for in 2004 and with which I have competed in the trial championships to date.
The reason for my departure is solely and exclusively due to sporting aspects. I have set myself the goal of taking on new challenges in competitions that Montesa Honda does not usually compete in and that has led me to look for a structure that would make it possible.
The decision to leave the team with which I have competed for the last eight years and with which I have achieved much of my success has not been easy. Without a doubt, it has been a very fruitful period in my sporting career and I will always be grateful to Montesa Honda, Repsol and the rest of the team’s sponsors for having trusted me and for having contributed to my development as a professional rider.
In the same way, I also have to thank the understanding of the brand and the facilities they have given me to terminate the contract before December 31st, the date on which it expired, so that I could start preparing thoroughly for my next goal: the 2012 Dakar Rally.
I leave with the satisfaction of a job well done and the good times lived, but also with the nostalgia of leaving a great mark in which I found colleagues and friends who supported me from day one. I leave with a backpack full of happy memories that I have been lucky enough to share with mechanics, staff and my fellow riders over the years. It has been a fantastic experience that I have enjoyed and that has allowed me to compete alongside my idol Dougie Lampkin, and great champions such as Takahisa Fujinami and Toni Bou.
To all of them, sincerely, thank you very much and good luck in the future.
