Guide to the 2019 Trial World Championship

This weekend the 2019 edition of the Trial World Championship kicks off with the Italian Grand Prix. Pietramurata sets the starting point for an exciting new edition where Toni Bou, who once again starts as the favourite, will be looking for his 13th world title.

In TrialGP he will have strong competition, both from veteran riders such as Adam Raga and Jeroni Fajardo, who continue to emerge as the other two big favourites to compete in the championship, as well as the young promises already consolidated. We are referring to Jaime Busto, Jorge Casales, Miquel Gelabert and Benoit Bincaz.

We also have to count on figures such as Fujinami or Dabill who says “I have another year on my contract with Beta, so we will see how this season goes, but my mentality at the moment is to keep pushing in the world championship. I think I still have a few years left.”

In the attempt to assault the first five positions we will have other great talents such as Noguera, Farre, Kadlec, Peace, Price or Andrea Riva.
The big unknown will be the performance of
Jaime Busto with his Vertigo Vertical R
, a bike with which he has been training for a few days and with which he will try to maintain his good performance of the previous campaign, regularly placing himself on the podium positions.

In Trial2 we will also have full excitement. Grattarola remains in the category with the aim of renewing the title, although their main rivals will try to remove the thorn of 2018. Toby Martin is one of them and as a novelty this year he will be at the controls of an EVO Beta: “Last year was disappointing, but now I see it differently, it made me stronger and I intend to win the title this year. I’m incredibly motivated and winning has been my goal all winter. I’m confident, I’m confident in my riding and I really believe I can do it.”

Among the Spaniards we have another of the great contenders for the title: Gabriel Marcelli. Along with him, other national riders have the ability to do well, such as Aniol Gelabert or Francesc Moret. On the other hand, several “125s” have moved up the category: Eric Miquel, Pablo Suárez and Martin Riobo. In this category we will also see David Avendaño and Gerard Trueba.
Trial125 is presented as a very open category, where we will have three Spanish riders: Pau Martínez, Pol Medinya and Alex Canales.

In the top women’s category, TrialGP Women, Emma Bristow will be looking for her sixth consecutive title in Women’s TrialGP, but to do so she will have to face strong challenges from the Spaniards Berta Abellan, Neus Murcia and Sandra Gómez.

The Trial2 Women category will have the closest fight in the championship as last year’s champion, Alex Brancati, and Maddie Hoover, second, move to the TrialGP Women category. This leaves rivals Sophia Ter Jung of Germany and Norway’s Erika Melchior.
