Gianluca Tournour wins the first European Championship in Cortenova

After a one-year hiatus in 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the European Trial Championship returned to action.

The first race of the 2021 season took place on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 May in Italy. The race, originally scheduled in Santa Flora, near Grosseto, was finally held in Cortenova thanks to the organization of the Moto Club Valsassina.

With a very favourable temperature and weather on both days of competition, we witnessed areas of high level and technical demand.

TOURNOUR, FIRST LEADER OF THE 2021 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP

In the top category we enjoyed an exciting duel between the local GasGas rider, Gianluca Tournour and the Norwegian Sondre Haga, who ended up separated by only two points. The top seed and reigning Trial2 World Champion, Matteo Grattarola, was punctually present in that battle.

In the Trial Cup for the over-40s, the Czech Martin Kroustek beat Andrea Buschi and the Slovenian Severin Sajevec.

England’s Alice Minta won the CE Women’s Trial after a beautiful duel with France’s Naomi Monnier and Italy’s Andrea Sofia Rabino.

The young driver Harry Hemingway won the Junior and Youth Cup. The English rider took a double victory, dominating the junior category with a 21-point lead over the Czech David Fabian and 24 points ahead of Poland’s Milosz Zyznowski. In the Junior category, Harry finished ahead of Dutchman Rodney Bereiter and Czech David Fabian.
