Last week the Madrid store of Difrenos contacted us to inform us that they had received the first national order of the long-awaited Gas Gas electric, technically called Gas Gas TXT E 4822.

The only thing that is familiar to the driver at the controls of the TXT 4822 is the driving position, which is identical to the petrol model. There is no change in geometries or dimensions, but the final weight does, which is 63 kilos (approximately 3kg less than usual). The start-up, as you might expect, is under lock and key.
At the controls, the sensations and handling are radically different from a petrol model. The TXT 4822 is a difficult bike to ride, as the engine responds as long as you have the throttle grip open, so it is even difficult to keep up with the same pace. If you cut off the gas, the engine literally stops and the bike loses all inertia, forcing you to be very careful how much you dose the grip in places where the petrol model would come out “on its own”.

On the other hand, it is a bike with a lot of traction, ideal for non-stop riding and being very sweet to prevent the bike from delivering the power suddenly and digging the terrain.
The descents are also delicate: if you close the throttle grip, the wheel barely moves forward. Therefore, on the descent itself you must play, in addition to the brake itself, with the gas or failing that with the clutch. All this is very peculiar and different from what we already know, but in a few hours you end up understanding his method and gain in precision.
This edition specifically equipped the clutch accessory, very necessary to rev the engine and thus make areas of medium difficulty. And there’s your ceiling. Basic or middle areas, you can’t ask for more.

In short, this is a model whose price/performance ratio is exorbitant if we compare it with what the current petrol versions offer us, although it is likely that more than one user will be compensated for this sacrifice if the accessibility to the mountains is less restrictive or if they are willing to give up sports performance.
