Gabriel Marcelli: “Making the podium in TrialGP is more exciting than winning the Trial2 World Championship”

Gabriel Marcelli faces the 2020 season in the top category without any pressure, as it is his first campaign in TrialGP and his main objective is to accumulate experience sharing the grid with the best riders in the world.

Motorcycle Trial Offers

We spoke to Gabriel before the French GP and the Galician rider was very excited, with the confidence of having the level to aspire to be in the top 5. An expectation that did not come in Isola 2000, where he had bittersweet sensations and did not go beyond tenth position. The level was there, but the results were not yet.

Just six days later, at the Spanish GP, the change of mindset has been complete. In the context of a trial that was less demanding in terms of geographical conditions (altitude), but more in terms of the level of areas and variety of terrain, Gabriel was comfortable at all times.

A GREAT SPANISH GP

On the first day he signed a great fourth position: “On Saturday I was climbing the walls with happiness after finishing fourth.” Something that allowed him to start in the back group in Sunday’s race, a fact that he highlighted very highly: “Here in Spain I haven’t had to open up areas and it’s very noticeable, since you have quite a few references”.

On this second day he rode regularly, at a high level and improving lap by lap times, which allowed him to finish on the podium just six points behind Raga.

For Marcelli: “I’m much more than happy, maybe euphoric! It’s amazing! I couldn’t imagine. The feeling is stronger than when I won the Trial2 title last year, maybe because today everything went well and unexpectedly. Now I think I’m one of the TrialGP guys.

He is currently sixth in the provisional standings, tied with fifth-placed Jeroni Fajardo and one point behind Miquel Gelabert, fourth.
