Adam Raga’s victory on the second day of the Andorran GP

The second day of the Andorran GP has once again left us with another race to highlight in the newspaper archives. If on the first day the victory in TrialGP was determined after the tie-break by time invested in the race, in favor of Toni Bou, on this second day the fight has been between Jaime Busto and, again, Adam Raga.

The context of the race was, again, demanding, but a few of the most “impossible” sections of Saturday were modified, which allowed the riders to lower the partials of the previous day and therefore tighten the classification.

JAIME BUSTO, GREAT PROTAGONIST

The Basque rider from Vertigo had a first step through the anthological zones, signing a partial of only 6 points, to 10 from Raga and 12 from Bou. An important distance, but one that left no room for error. Behind them, a three-way tie on 17 points between Gelabert, Marcelli and Grattarola.

Jaime knew how to carry the weight of the race impeccably, with small mistakes in the first sections, but managing his lead well. The change of race came in zone 8, one of the most selective of the course, which he had previously covered without penalty and where now a fiasco was left that allowed Adam Raga to get closer to his rival.

"Adam Raga completes a spectacular weekend, where he was able to get rid of the thorn in the side of Saturday and get closer to Toni Bou in the standings. Jaime Busto has also done a great job."

IMPECCABLE RAGA AT THE END OF THE RACE

More problems in zone nine for Jaime, where he left a several, plus a point in eleven. Here Raga was already on his own and completed the last section cleanly, thus getting his first victory of the season. A result that allows him to get closer to Toni Bou in the general classification. They are now eight points apart.

The podium was completed by Toni Bou, who although he rode very well in the second pass through the sections, was not enough to dispute the second position with Jaime. Fourth Miquel Gelabert, followed by Grattarola, Marcelli, Fajardo, Fujinami, Bincaz and Casales.

ANIOL GELABERT IN TRIAL2

The youngest of the Gelaberts climbed to the top of the Trial2 podium, in what is his second victory of his career in the category. Behind, an extraordinary Farré, followed by Jack Peace , who remains the leader of the provisional standings ahead of Toby Martyn, who was not at the level of Saturday, and Gelabert, who moves up the standings.

VICTORY FOR JACK DANCE IN 125

Championship leader Jack Dance increases his lead over Hemingway after Sunday’s win. Their consistency is proving to be the great ally and they already have a nine-point lead over their rivals. Third position in the race and also in the championship for Harry Turner, who was underdog in the points tiebreaker with Hemingway.

CHATAGNO DOMINATES TRIALE

In TrialE there were no surprises. Overwhelming superiority of Gael Chatagno in TrialE with his Electric Motion. He counts his participations by victories and dominates the category. Behind him we have Julien Perret, the only one capable of standing up to Gael in terms of records. The podium was completed by the Galician Martín Riobo.

DECLARATIONS

ADAM RAGA (P1)"It's been a great weekend for us. It's a pity that on Saturday the time penalty left us out of the victory by the minimum, but the feeling was good and on Sunday I went all out. We knew we could get the win and we worked well, especially on the second lap. We scored some very important points for the general classification."

toni bou (P3)"This weekend has been really tricky. Finishing first and third is a great result, as we suffered a lot. Despite all the problems, the team has worked hard and I am very grateful for this. Now we have no choice but to work to recover the good feeling on the bike and be able to fight to win in France."

MIQUEL GELABERT (P4)"My goal for this weekend was to finish on the podium, so even though I couldn't do that, overall I'm pleased with the way things went. On the first day, it was a handful of silly mistakes that made me fall a little into the results after being close to third place at the end of the first lap. The second day was better: finishing fourth is my best result of the season so far. Still, I'm a bit disappointed because again I was there to be on the podium. But at this higher level you can't afford any small mistakes, and those mistakes cost me, as they did on the first day. I also got a five-year penalty, for not running non-stop, which certainly didn't help me. I know what I have to do to improve my results, but overall my riding is good, so everything is going well, next weekend in France I can concentrate again on getting on the podium."

Takahisa Fujinami (P8)"Today was a difficult day, I finished eighth like yesterday. In some areas I felt comfortable, but the other riders were very strong, everything was tight. It's a shame to finish with two eighth places and not be able to improve today, but now we have France in mind and we will have to change our mindset to give our best. Always in the Fujigas style!"

JORGE CASALES (P10)"My expectations weren't too high for this event, so to finish the two days, I'm happy with that. These upcoming GPs are all about regaining my confidence and taking things one step at a time. Finishing seventh on the first day, I'm satisfied with my riding and all things considered, the result is also good. It's never easy to be the first rider in the zones! The second day was tough for me. Most of the first lap went well, but then I started to feel tired and lost a bit of feeling with my bike. Also, on the last lap I made a lot of mistakes. Now I'm looking forward to France next weekend."
