It’s been more than a hundred years since trial was born in the British mountains, but its evolution in both motorcycles and philosophy has changed over time. Starting with an excursion concept with brands such as Ossa, Bultaco and Montesa and motorcycles that only allowed dynamic trials, without major obstacles or twisty turns where it is necessary to move the bike from a standstill.
But today, all of this has evolved. We find a trial marked by the pace of evolution of the bikes, which thanks to their reduced weight and quality of components have allowed the trial to change to a concept of shorter and more intense sections.
That is why the concept of
trial excursions

, we are ready to test the leisure bike. It is true that the first impression we have is somewhat uncertain in terms of the approach we can give to this model and if it will really be able to satisfy a morning with friends of trial and excursion, but once we get on we begin to notice sensations that could not be expected at all and that translate into an appetite to do technical areas and excursion with it in the same morning.
Referring to technical aspects, we observe a range with more than enough components to meet your leisure approach. An air-cooled 125cc 4-stroke engine that reminds us to some extent of a Yamaha engine, but with amazing performance that allows it to be controlled by novice riders and even experienced riders.
When it comes to starting, we observe a fundamental detail that the French brand has not wanted to overlook, it is the electronic starter, which allows you to focus exclusively on your excursion knowing that at any moment with the press of a button, easily accessible in the pineapple, you will start the bike without any effort. Following the line of the handlebars, we find a simple monitor in the central part where we can quickly access information such as our speed.

In addition, it includes all the necessary components to be able to drive with it if you have a B driving license.
We started the test of the
Sherco TY Classic 125
model, in the small test area dedicated to the trial, so our first contact is exclusively in technical areas where we expected that the performance would not be at the level of the Racing or Factory models. But the truth is that as you get on, you start to realize its manageability, lightness and above all the fun it can bring you.
It is not a bike made for the zones, but we can say after testing it during the morning, that it performs in a technical environment without any problem, with an engine full from below, an immediate response and an agility that as a whole gives you enough confidence to face almost any area.
In addition, the performance of its brakes and damping for the level of effort to which it can be subjected is more than sufficient.
Once tested in the trial area, we took advantage of the return to the tents to test it in one of what should be its strong point, the excursion.
Once the ride has started, it is irresistible to want to go up another gear and so on to complete the connection section at speeds and comfort greater than what could be expected on a trial bike. The response on excursions is good, but if there is one thing that stands out, it is the stability and safety it provides you during the journey.
It is a complete motorcycle in every sense, totally recommended for all those passionate about classic trials, excursion trials, who are looking for an affordable and versatile motorcycle. With the advantage that it can be carried with a B license and that whatever your level you will not be surpassed by the motorcycle.
Once you get used to its 4-stroke engine with a rounder and not so immediate output, that’s when you really start to enjoy it and open up a huge field of possibilities.
