The Foz de Morcín successfully inaugurates the 2021 Spanish Classics Cup

The national Classic Trial started this past weekend in La Foz de Morcín, Asturias. Although it has been a long time coming, its pilots are already protagonists. As it could not be otherwise, Asturias welcomed them with open arms and the magnificent terrain of northern Spain helped to make the areas spectacular.

About 50 registered runners travelled to La Foz de Morcín to compete for two days with good temperatures and a great desire to do well.

Nice fights on Saturday

On Saturday and in the Classics category, José Enrique Romero, Jesús Ruiz and Juan Carlos de Gregorio were the best with very few penalties and fighting until the end for the three steps of honor. In Pre-75 Rafael Asins surpassed the rest of his teammates and left Juan Domingo Miguel and José María Cosculluela as second and third, respectively.

Bertrán Martínez-Peñalver won in Trialeros so Marino Galilea and Rafael Trucios had to settle for accompanying him on the podium, but on the second and third steps. In Pre-80 Roberto Mendibil won. José Gabriel Dasí was second and Antonio Villanueva third.

Finally, in Experts, the protagonists were Diego Urreta, Alberto Moreno and Alberto Barbosa.

DIFFERENT WINNERS ON SUNDAY

Sunday was a new opportunity for all the participating riders and, in addition, with variations in the route and in the zones. After Saturday’s effort, we had to draw strength from wherever we could to continue enjoying and competing at the highest level. Jesús Ruiz was the winner this time in the Classics, so José Enrique Romero was second and Vicente Arturo de Miguel third. In Pre-75 José María Cosculluela was the best, so Miguel San Félix and Asins completed the boxes of honor in this category.

Mariano Gómez took the victory in Trialeros, Bertrán Martínez-Peñalver finished second and Luis Arocas third. As had happened in other categories, in Pre-80 there was also a different winner than Saturday. José Gabriel Dasi took the cat to the water. Roberto Mendibil was second and Francisco J. Aldecoa third.

Diego Urreta did repeat his victory in Experts but, on this occasion, Barbosa finished second and Moreno third.

The next round of the Spanish Classic Trial Cup will be held on October 2 and 3 in Robregordo, Madrid.
