Styles and evolution of bike trials, under examination

biketrial_approvedof the bike trial offer the user versatility and maximum fun For many years we have been travelling to tests, testing materials and trying to bring you as clear conclusions as we can of what the brands offer under the unique perspective of pure trial. Before continuing this text I would like to clarify that we are (and especially am) in love with pure trial and bikes of this modality, but for a few months we have been realizing a reality or perhaps a possibility…

Are streeteras the future for the expansion of our sport?  Are they also for fun?

There are several things to look at in these two questions and various factors within them.

As for the first one… On the face of it, yes. The arguments are as easy as they are overwhelming. Danny Macaskill has got the trial  video(yes, it’s more street) with the most visits in the history of our sport. Not only that, he has managed to make a living from it without competing, being sponsored by the best energy drink brand in the world and working on advertisements for large multinationals. Let’s look at the “DanMac” case from another perspective.

He has used or developed something striking for society  by mixing two modalities. Both the style of the bike, the riding, and the costumes, are right for young people. Everything he does is done on the street and with a bike that allows you a much larger number of variants than a trial bike. If we add to that the great durability of these and, as we have said, their versatility, we have  a perfect cocktail.

On the other hand, I don’t just want to focus on an “extra-terrestrial” like Danny, but on a closer example of pure trial. I invite you to check out on youtube any video of one of the 3 best pilots in the world Kenny Belaey and be surprised. Yes, incredibly, and after many years and world championships in the elite, the videos that, in order of relevance, appear first, are from Kenny riding in 24″ with a streeter through the streets of San Francisco.

The other is of himself training and performing an exhibition with this type of bikes! Hope it doesn’t end there, we all remember that he appeared in a famous advertisement for the clothing brand that dresses him; Do you remember what bike he was riding? Was it trial or street? Undoubtedly, its aesthetics and style have prevailed over that of pure trial in advertising terms.

The same has happened with a rider who had always done pure trial and has released videos such as TRA and whose video with this type of bike has achieved an unprecedented number of views if we take into account his previous recordings.

There are more examples, but they are three of the clearest and closest.

The way to make ourselves known, or to expand our sport must include and become aware of many ideas and paths and fortunately or unfortunately this seems to be one of them. Is it possible that Danny has done more for trial than great riders throughout his career in terms of expansion?

We can say that as a result of his famous video, many people have stopped us on the street because they have seen a boy take a “bell turn” in a tree with his bike…

On the fun side, it’s probably more fun than a pure trial, that’s personal opinion, but from our point of view, it offers a lot more possibilities if you’re just doing street. They are bikes designed for fun and leave the imagination open and if you don’t compete and only run city streets, this type of bike is mandatory to try.

Trial has continued and continues to evolve and these options and paths are to be appreciated by everyone.

With this article we want to open the minds even more to people who, for one reason or another, are unmotivated, are looking for new paths or believe that trial is dying.

Trial is more alive than ever, you just have to know how to see it
