SSDT. Steve Peat’s Impressions

The first day of the Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) is a time of enormous excitement for all the riders, but for the small number of virgin riders who are new to the event, opening day is filled with tension, even more so than usual for a Trial race. Steve Peat has only been riding trials for a few years, despite being 33 years old. After successfully completing Scott’s famous and very tough race in 2010, the likeable rider from Sheffield decided to join the 2011 SSDT rider list.

“Yesterday was a lot of fun. The start of the day was tough, but after the first four sections I focused and everything started to flow,” Steve said of the first day.
Leaving the Parc Fermé at around eleven o’clock in the morning, Steve headed towards the Scottish Highlands with his great friend Rob Warner with a gruelling day of motorcycle trials ahead of them.

“We had some really good time in one day, and that changes things a lot in the race. In particular, enjoying the top of the moors before Blackwater is wonderful and I feel at home (Steve is a mountain biker). My main personal goal this week is just to finish, if I can do it I will feel very happy. I’d also like to beat my teammate Rob Warner, but overall I’m not sure I can do it, so my goal should be to finish as it’s my debut in the SSDTs,” Steve continued.
