Preview of the Trial World Championship in Cal Rosal 9 and 10 April

On the 8th, 9th and 10th of April, a month and a half from today, the Berguedà region will experience an intense weekend of motorized activity with the celebration of the 2016 FIM Trial World Championship. The Catalan Trial Grand Prix will bring together the best riders in the world from Friday 8 April in Cal Rosal to start a new and challenging season. The race will be the first of eight rounds of a World Championship that will continue with the Japanese Grand Prix and, after visiting five other countries, will end in September in Italy.

SEVEN YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

After seven years of organising the event that closes the Spanish Trial Championship and which, on many occasions, has been decided by the champion, the Moto Club Baix Berguedà will organise a World Championship event for the first time. In the history of the Trial World Championship , many will remember the event that was held in 1993 in Berga, where the organizing club was the Moto Club Terrassa. The race proved the great atmosphere and acceptance for the engine in the region.
The Moto Club Baix Berguedà will celebrate 25 years organizing races in the region in 2016. During this quarter of a century, the club has accumulated more than 600 federated races of different specialties and scores. You can follow the club’s activities on the website where a specific section has been created for the Trial World Championship, and you can access it through this link.

TRIAL ROUTE

The Moto Club Baix Berguedà is preparing a race of the highest level. In these scarce 45 days that remain for the big event, the people of the club and the collaborators will make a titanic effort to have a competition at the level of the best riders in the world. The twelve demanding sections that will put the riders to the test are practically unprecedented on a course designed especially for this event. The paddock where the teams and riders participating in this initial round of the 2016 World Championship will be located in Cal Rosal, while most of the areas will be located in the municipality of Olvan.
The drivers will have to overcome the twelve sections that they will encounter on a route of about twelve and a half kilometers, up to three times. The winner will be the rider with the lowest score in each of the three categories: TrialGP, Trial2 and Trial125. There will also be a complementary category, International Trial, and also the possibility of seeing electric trial bikes within the new e-Class category.

EASY FOR VIEWERS

Trial fans and followers in general will be able to enjoy the race thanks to a route also designed to enjoy a day of competition. There will be a large car park at La Gravera de Cal Rosal, from where a bus service will depart that will take spectators to the group of zones located near Olvan, as the road will be closed to private traffic. There will also be a bus stop in the departure area, in Cal Rosal, from where you will be able to easily access zones 1, 11 and 12.

WHAT’S NEW AT THE 2016 WORLD CUP

The 2016 FIM Trial World Championship will start in Cal Rosal/Olvan with some new regulations in relation to its regulations. Unlike the Spanish Championship, the ‘non-stop’ system is applied, which penalises the rider who stops moving forward. This does not represent anything new, but the change of name of the World Championship categories does: TrialGP is the highest level, Trial2 is the previous Junior category, and Trial125 the class for riders between 14 and 18 years old who compete with motorcycles with 125cc engines. and 2-stroke.

RIDE GREEN – WE TAKE CARE OF THE ENVIRONMENT

The Moto Club Baix Berguedà is aware of the damage to the environment that can be caused by overcrowding and the consequent lack of control of motorcyclists in the mountains. For this reason, the organization of this Grand Prix of Catalonia has focused on making a race as respectful of the environment as possible, taking care of our privileged environment.
For this reason, it has undertaken different actions that are part of the ‘Ride Green’ program promoted by the International Motorcycling Federation, such as avoiding traffic collapse with the hiring of different buses to take spectators to the areas. Different containers will also be distributed to selectively dispose of waste and not litter the mountain. In La Gravera and in the groups of zones in Olvan you can also find bar service and race information.
