Ossa will build a new factory

logo_ossa300Ossa will finally stay in Girona after ruling out moving its production to another autonomous community, including Galicia, and will have a new factory in 2014 of 4,000 square meters to unify production. Until the new plant is operational, Ossa has rented a second warehouse in the Domeny industrial estate, where it is currently based.
“We’re staying because we can’t be aware of whether or not we’re leaving to continue working,”
explained the general manager of Ossa, Joan Gurt.

He pointed out that the construction of the new plant will depend on whether the Catalan motorcycle firm finds financing, although if these facilities materialize, between 80 and 100 direct jobs will be created (Ossa currently employs 37 workers). The rented warehouse will be used to store the finished motorcycles , as well as spare parts, because the current facilities have become too small, according to Gurt.

Ossa had asked the Generalitat: access to public funding this year worth four million euros to meet your working capital needs, in addition to four million in guarantees until 2013 in order to meet its production needs, and had warned that it would go to another autonomous community if it did not receive these funds. In October, the Ministry of Enterprise and Employment of the Generalitat granted 12 million euros in loans to fourteen companies in the field of motorcycles, including Ossa, to finance new projects, which has contributed to the Catalan motorcycle company remaining in Catalonia.
