the Trial and Enduro world titles and the victories in the Dakar Rally, Laia Sanz , the most successful Spanish rider in history, will compete this week in a new challenge for the Gas Gas rider: the X-Games.
It will be in the Brazilian town of Foz do Iguaçú, the first time that this media competition takes place outside the United States, where Laia will compete in the Enduro-X (Indoor Enduro) specialty.
Laia Sanz:
“I’m really looking forward to it. For me, racing the X-Games is a new experience and I love this kind of challenge. I’m very excited,”
says Laia. The Gas Gas rider is the only European rider who will take part in the event, and she is looking forward to measuring herself against her American rivals.
“I don’t know what my level will be in this test,”
he continues. “I’m curious to know where I stand in relation to the other participants. I’m aware if the track is fast and has a lot of jumps, it will be difficult to be on the podium because most riders usually race motocross and events of this type, although if the track is technical, like the SuperEnduro of Tours, I can have more possibilities.”
The competition will take place between 20:00 and 21:30 -Brazilian time- and Laia will get on the Gas Gas EC 250 F with which she already competed in Tours in the women’s SuperEnduro race, where she achieved victory after doubling all the participants.
“It will be fun, a great experience that I plan to enjoy with the enthusiasm of a child,”
Laia admits, before leaving for Brazil. Among the favourites to take the gold, in addition to the Gas Gas rider, is the double gold medalist, Maria Forsberg or the motocross champions Jessica Patterson and Tarah Gieger. They will be great duels, no doubt. Louise Forsley, also from the United States, who Laia Sanz knows well as she has been one of her rivals in different events of the World Trial Championship and the Trial of Nations, said that Laia “is as good as a man. He’s a beast.”
