Laia caresses her 11th World Cup

laia_trial_400Laia Sanz won this Sunday at the start of a new edition of the Women’s Trial World Championship, a competition that will consist of two more tests and for whose final classification the two best results of each participant will be counted. For Laia Sanz this has been a full weekend, since yesterday she also scored the victory in the second round of the European Championship.

Next weekend, in Tanvald (Czech Republic), the rider from Montesa has everything in her favour to win her tenth continental title on Saturday – a fourth position would be enough for her – and the next day she will have before her the first opportunity to leave what would be her eleventh world title sentenced.

In the same terrain as yesterday but with greater difficulty in the most selective areas and somewhat softer the rest, Laia Sanz has not given any option, finishing the first round with 5 points, half of his closest rival, and sealing his triumph without the slightest mistake in the second round.

Laia Sanz: “The changes made in the zones have been interesting, as the most demanding ones have allowed us to establish greater differences. On the second lap, I also accelerated the pace to avoid the rain that my rivals encountered. The back pain that affected me yesterday has not fazed me and I have closed with total satisfaction a weekend in which I could not have asked for more. I hope the next one will be as positive as this one.”

Today was Laia Sanz’s 23rd participation in a round of the Women’s Trial World Championship, in which she won her first title in 2000. The multi-champion has 22 victories and a second position.
