It was a great weekend for Toni Bou, who has won two Indoor races that do not count towards the Trial World Championship, but which well demonstrate the unstoppable form of the rider from Piera, who is firmly on his way to a new world title. To see how the championship is finally resolved, we will have to wait until March 3, at the Palacio de los Deportes in Madrid, which corresponds to the next scoring event for the championship.

BARCELONA INDOOR TRIAL: BOU WINS OVER ITS AUDIENCE

After a preliminary round in the morning, in which the drivers were scored between 0 and 5, the morning session left the following starting order in the afternoon competition: Toni Bou (Montesa), Adam Raga (Gas Gas), Albert Cabestany (Sherco), Jeroni Fajardo (Beta), Takahisha Fujinami (Montesa) and Dani Oliveras (Ossa).

In this order, each rider has completed one after the other the 5 zones, designed by Francesc Tarrés. Thus, the elimination round of the afternoon was opened by an extraordinary Toni Bou, who has been overcoming the various zones adding only one point in zone 3, formed by large blocks of stone, and placing himself in first position. Albert Cabestany, finished in second place and 8 points, after getting a good round although he had problems in the Saunier Duval area (formed by metal structures and of great technical difficulty).

The third rider who managed to qualify for the final was Jeroni Fajardo, who with a very good performance managed to overcome the different sections adding 10 points, leaving out of the final the unfortunate Adam Raga and Takahisa Fujinami, who finished in fifth and fourth position respectively. The general classification was closed by the young rider Dani Oliveras.

The final round was  made up of 6 zones, which the three classified riders have been passing alternately, and in which Toni Bou has been consecrated, adding a total of 6 points, followed by Albert Cabestany from Tarragona with 17, and Jeroni Fajardo with 28.

Toni Bou: “It has been a very beautiful trial, planned with great success so that the public could have a great time. Whether or not I count towards the World Championships, competing in Barcelona is always special for me, one of the important dates of the year. That’s why I place great value on this new triumph.”

Takahisa Fujinami: “Overall, it’s been the typical step test. You either go up or you stay, and in my case I made some mistakes that left me out of the final. But I had fun and I think I also made the audience have a great time. I would sum it up by saying that Toni is the trick and Fujinami is the show.”

RESULTS

2.- Albert Cabestany 16 points

(drivers not qualified for the final round)

TOULOUSE INDOOR TRIAL: ONE MORE FOR BOU ON THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY

Toni Bou won once again on indoor territory, this time in a non-scoring race, but which is a classic in the calendar of top riders: the Indoor Trial of Toulouse. The 25th anniversary of this event took place in a spectacular setting, with high-altitude areas and a fantastic influx of 5,000 spectators.

From a sporting point of view, Bou was once again the protagonist of the night, completing nine of the ten zones without committing penalties. Raga also had a good race, without intimidating the rider from Piera, scoring a total of 18 points, 11 more than his main rival. Jeroni Fajardo, who this time did beat Fujinami, completed the podium with 31 points, to 39 for the Japanese. Gubian and Ferrer finished in fifth and sixth place, respectively.
