Grattarola Italian Champion

italia_2011The Italian town of Apica hosted the final round of the 2011 Italian Championships on a cold Sunday in October. This championship is one of the most spectacular, since from the design of the areas to the professionalism of the teams that take part, they make each race practically like a World Championship test.

On the sporting front, Fabio Lenzi (Montesa) won his first race of the season here and his closest rival Mateo Grattarola (Gasgas) won his third Italian title, outdoors.

The second place on the podium was Daniele Maurino (Beta), as neither Challoner nor Dani Oliveras, who travelled to Italy with his Ossa to take part in the race, scored points in this championship. The Spaniard was just one point behind Lenzi and showed that he is still in brilliant form. Oliveras has been the mechanic of Jeroni Fajardo’s bike throughout the 2011 season, so he knows the TR 280i perfectly.
