Gabriel Marcelli, official Montesa rider and Fujinami Team Manager

Just one day after the announcement of Miquel Cirera’s departure as Team Manager of the Repsol Honda Team, the team’s new structure for the 2022 season has been announced, with the addition of Gabriel Marcelli as Toni Bou’s teammate and Takahisa Fujinami as Team Manager.

GABRIEL MARCELLI OFFICIAL MONTESA RIDER

Toni Bou and Gabriel Marcelli will be the Repsol Honda Team duo that will fight for the TrialGP and X-Trial World Championship in 2022.

Little to say about the number one for the last 15 years: Toni Bou. The athlete with the most successes, the legend of Trial, the reference of all will go out to defend his bib that has remained intact for three decades; Bou (17/10/1986) will start as favourite and man to beat in his sixteenth season with the Repsol Honda Team.

And together with Toni Bou, the young Galician rider Gabriel Marcelli (04/02/2000) will make his debut in the team this year, joining after a successful career in Trial2, where he became World Champion in 2019, and two solid seasons in TrialGP.

TAKAHISA FUJINAMI NEW REPSOL HONDA TEAM MANAGER

The Repsol Honda Team is also renewing part of its staff with the addition of former rider Takahisa Fujinami as the new team principal.

After 26 seasons active in the Trial World Championship, Fujigas will move on to develop a new role within a structure he knows well. His experience in competition will be an important factor for the new challenge of the 2004 Trial World Champion.

GABRIEL MARCELLI: "I'm more than happy to join the best trial team in the world. First of all I want to thank all my sponsors who have supported me over the years, especially this last season. From now on there may be more pressure. Joining the Repsol Honda Team means taking on more responsibilities, you're in everyone's sight... Being Toni's teammate, having such a good team, I think it's going to give a lot of good moments and I hope it will be a relationship that lasts for many years. I take over from Takahisa Fujinami, who has set the bar very high for all these years. I'll try to do my best and show that I'm up to the task and I'm confident in the job to be at the top and hopefully! Toni Bou and I can be at the top."

TONI BOU: "This upcoming season will be very interesting for all of us. As always, the goals are the titles and we are continuously preparing for it because the rivals always want to snatch the position of number one in the world championship from us. We will continue our line of work that we have carried out over the years. I want to welcome Gabriel Marcelli to the team. He's a very good rider and he's had some great races this year. He will surely do well and it will be good for the team. We would also like to congratulate Takahisa Fujinami as the new Team Manager. I'm sure his racing experience will be positive for us."

TAKAHISA FUJINAMI: "It is an honour for me to be able to defend, from now on, the colours of the Repsol Honda Trial Team as Team Manager. It's a big challenge for me, for sure. The team has achieved great success and my intention will be to continue this long streak of titles and collaborate in making the brand even bigger. In 2022 we added a new rider to the team: Gabriel Marcelli. He is a young rider with great potential. In 2020 he achieved his first podium and this 2021 he has finished the season on a clear rise. With his entry into the Repsol Honda Team, we are sure that he will take a big leap forward in his career. He will be the new teammate of the great champion Toni Bou. He's won 30 World Championship titles and what more can you say about someone who has won so much? Well, as always, he will be looking for victory in next season's TrialGP and X-Trial World Championships. The whole team is going to work to make this possible for another year!"
