Government of Catalonia, through Avançsa, today formalised the provision of a 2 million euro equity loan to the Catalan company Gas Gas Motos to promote the consolidation of its expansion plan. The company, based in Salt, is number one in the world in trial bikes and third in enduro.
Avançsa has carried out an analysis of the growth plan presented by the company, which has as its strategic axes the consolidation of the Catalan motorcycle sector – through the recent agreement between Gas Gas and the Catalan company Ossa, the technology acquisition and Enhancement of international commercial activity.
The inflow of capital by Avançsa is accompanied by a co-investment by an international group, which last March contributed more than four million euros to Gas Gas Motos. Avançsa will directly follow the evolution of the Gas Gas project, given its strategic importance for Catalonia.
Gas Gas will soon make a strong investment to apply a new technology that will power the engines of the 2 and 4-stroke motorcycle models in the coming years. This will allow Gas Gas to gain market share in countries such as the United States and Australia, among others.
The operation is in addition to the recent agreement between Gas Gas and the company Ossa, according to which Gas Gas will take over the production of Ossa at its facilities in Salt (Girona), from where the current models of the two Girona brands will be distributed. The agreement is made with the aim of gaining dimension within the sector and adding strategies.
The company is also looking to boost the Gas Gas brand, relaunch the Ossa brand with a new positioning and consolidate its international presence. The company currently exports 95% of its production and 63% of its exports are destined for the European market. Gas Gas has a production volume of 9,000 motorcycles per year and has 500 direct and indirect workers.
