Dougie Lampkin and his tribute to Beta Zero ’91 on SSDTs

After a two-year absence due to the pandemic, twelve-time Scottish Six Days of Trial (SSDT) winner Dougie Lampkin will mark his return to the Highlands in a special way, as the Yorkshire native has chosen six of his previous favourite clothing designs to wear during the 2022 event.

Dougie has identified the following designs for different personal reasons as those that stood out during his more than twenty-five-year career, and with the help of Jitsie he has revived them with a modern twist for this year’s SSDT.

Dougie will wear a different piece each day, starting with a special tribute to his late father Martin during Sunday’s opening show, then celebrating his own glory years over the next five days before unveiling his limited-edition Jitsie DL12 design, which will be released soon on the sixth and final day of competition.

Below, Dougie shared the reasons for each of his choices.

SSDT DAY 1: BETA ZERO 1991

Dougie Lampkin: "When the gold and purple Beta Zero was released in late 1991, it was a bold color and design for the time. The clothes that Apico made to match the bike were stunning and probably one of the brightest designs I've ever worn, but I loved them then as a sixteen-year-old and I still love them now. I had just come out of the junior ranks and was starting to play in some adult British Nationals and championship rounds that year."
