Bultaco returns to the Scottish Pre65

In this year’s 2018 edition, a very interesting event has occurred, a Bultaco has participated again.

The current prototype was manufactured in 1964, and has only had a single owner since then, it is Juan Ángel Calzado, who bought it from the factory through his friend Carlos de Sivatte in 1965, in the purchase Carlos commented, “Keep one of these that are tests that we have done.”

This has been their first trial, and to begin with none other than the Scottish!!, by the hand of Alfonso Calzado (son of the owner) who had a great enthusiasm to participate and finish this trial with this bike.
During these years this bike has remained in the Calzado family preserving its original condition and accessories, for this trial only the rear shock absorbers have been replaced, and an Amal carburetor has been mounted, but it has even run with original headlight and taillight, the trainer Joan Rovira has done a great job of tuning, Well, a thorough revision had to be made so that it could withstand the harshness of this trial.

The bike has responded wonderfully generating comments of all kinds and a pleasant surprise for the public, because in Scotland the memory of Bultaco is still alive, but mechanically it has been impeccable, it has only had two small incidents, loss of the chain tension spring and change of spark plug from one day to the next because it has been excessively greased, but NOTHING MORE!!
This bike is one of the first prototypes of the bikes that Samy Miller drove through Scotland, and with which he won many trials in those lands, beating the British brands par excellence, Norton,
Triumph
, BSA …..

At the end of the competition, the rider Alfonso spoke with Yrjo Vesterinen, 3 times world champion with Bultaco, who was very interested in the model, and commented that one day he would like to participate in a trial with this model, who knows maybe we will see Vesterinen again on the back of a Bultaco.
