Bou starts winning

bou_out_460Toni Bou (Montesa Cota 4RT) was the winner of the race that began this Sunday in the German town of Gefrees the 37th edition of the Trial World Championship, a contest in which the rider from Montesa has won the title for the last four years. Despite the inconvenience of opening the sections, very slippery due to the rain that fell the night before, Bou closed the first lap as the leader and increased his lead in the second round.

Excellent result for Fujinami at the start of the World Championship.

After taking the best score of the day on the second lap, Takahisa Fujinami (Montesa Cota 4RT) climbed up to third place, just one point behind Sherco rider Albert Cabestany’s second. Adam Raga (Gas Gas) could only manage fourth. The results of Bou and Fujinami put Montesa at the top of the manufacturers’ standings.

Laia Sanz (Montesa Cota 4RT) finished twelfth (98 points) in the Junior category, a section in which Alfredo Gómez and Francesc Moret (both with Montesa) achieved the first two positions, with 37 and 47 points, respectively.

The second round of the Trial World Championship will be the French Grand Prix, with a double-header on Saturday and Sunday, next weekend in Bréal-sous-Montfort.

DECLARATIONS:
Toni Bou: “Being the first to go out to the zones, with no other references than the visual ones, complicates things a lot and makes you suffer. And even more so if it has rained
And it’s unknown how slippery they are. So it was a very difficult trial that we solved with the best possible result. Without a doubt, the best way to start the defence of the title, against opponents who will not make it easy for us”.

The first lap took its toll on Laia.

Takahisa Fujinami: “Starting with this result is not bad at all, the pity is that by a single point I missed the second one
position. On the first lap I was testing the new settings of the bike in very difficult conditions. In the second one I already felt perfectly comfortable with it, it worked very well, and I think the low score says it all.”

Laia Sanz: “The assessment I give to my result is positive. I had set myself the goal of being in the points zone of the Junior category and I have achieved it. However, my first lap was a disaster. If I had applied like I did in the second one, where I improved a lot, I think I could have been between seventh and eighth.”
