Arnau Farré wins the 50th edition of the 3 Days of Trial in Santigosa

The 50th edition of the 3 Days of Trial of Santigosa (3DTS), one of the most charismatic and anticipated races on the calendar, has successfully concluded. This 2022 has been full of emotions and a good trial atmosphere; Throughout the three days of competition, different celebrations have taken place, such as exhibitions of trial bikes, the screening of a video commemorating this anniversary, or the exhibition of Toni Bou and former rider Takahisa Fujinami on Saturday.

In the sporting field, the start took place on Friday with good weather and an atypical heat that left the route with more traction than usual, favoring the low scores of the leading riders. There were also administrative inconveniences on the part of the environmental authorities, although in the end the competition was able to be held with the planned route. An environmental impact report on the route of the race is expected to be made in the coming days.

ARNAU FARRÉ WINNER of the 3DTS 2022

There were several favourites for the victory, which was presumably going to be wide open and decided by a few points, so it was essential to stay focused throughout the 31 zones that entered the competition on a daily basis.

This prediction was already fulfilled on the first day, where Jack Dance led the competition with zero points, the same as Arnau Farré, Jaime Busto and Pablo Suárez. There were up to a total of ten drivers in just three points.

The trend continued on Saturday. Dance, Farre and Busto, in that order, continued to co-lead the race with zero points. Suárez dropped a foot and Cabestany rolled clean, getting into the fight for victory. The sixth candidate was Miquel Gelabert, who also completed the course without penalty and added two to his total of both days.

On Sunday, everything was to be decided. Zone 11 could have made a difference, but no one topped it. So the race would be in zones 16, 21 and 27. The most difficult. Until lap 27, the victory was between Busto and Gelabert, but both failed and it was Farré, with only one point, who turned the classification around by winning the race. The rest of the podium was determined after a triple tiebreaker in favor of Busto and Gelabert, respectively. Dance was left out of the places of honor after an inopportune foot in the penultimate zone, but won in his junior category.

ARNAU FARRE: "I'm very happy with the result. The first two days the sections were easy and the results very tight, so we would have to be very focused. I really arrived thinking about taking it as a training session for the World Cup, looking at the zones very well and trying to pass the zones to zero. The last day was a little more difficult for me, as I left very early, at 8:30, and I had to open two of the high difficulty areas. They were tricky, as the judges were very strict with the nonstop, so I made some mistakes. I let them pass and it was very interesting to take references from my rivals to have a good afternoon. I'm very happy with the bike and the team."
