The Sheffield Indoor Trial is an emblematic event at the start of the Trial World Championship, although it has not been scoring for this series for years and is held as a show.
As it is the first major meeting of the year, we usually see important news from brands and riders. On this occasion, the spotlight was on Adam Raga, who made his debut at the controls of the SHERCO SC Factory 300 2024, a brand in which he has landed as an official rider after finishing his contract with TRS Motorcycles, with whom he had been linked since 2016.
The first thing that all the attendees did was take a look at the bike configuration with which Adam Raga made his public debut. As expected, his 2024 Sherco ST Factory competed equipped with a carburetor instead of the electronic injection system that the rest of the riders have and which is marketed in the series. The explanation lies in several points. Mainly Raga’s preference, who has been working with carburettor all his life and his adaptation to the bike, with which he has been working for just three weeks, is faster. Secondly, the brand is working hard to modify aspects of reliability at the level of electronic injection, battery and fuel pump, which have already been completely renewed in the presented 2024 edition.
In the race, Adam Raga showed his ability to adapt and felt comfortable in the demanding Sheffield format, with technical areas, large steps and speed races.
The goal was to be on the podium and he achieved it, beating Jaime Busto by one point and also beating Gabriel Marcelli in the grand final. Toni Bou, the winner, did not give any chance of victory, but second place is the best way for Adam Raga to show that his level is there and, despite his seniority, he puts the team back in the game. Sherco in the positions of honour, just when it needs it most, as it has not been an easy 2023 for the brand.
