Adam Raga dominates the CET in Sigüenza

Adam Raga has achieved victory in the second round of the Spanish Trial Championship, held in Sigüenza, with a very disputed second position that has been resolved in favor of Jeroni Fajardo after a triple tie with Toni Bou and Albert Cabestany.
More than 100 riders have gathered in the town of Alcarria in the context of a route of high physical and technical demand, with tight time per area and a lot of mud. This has allowed the scores to be high and the riders have had room to react to mistakes, although in the end there were three areas that really made a difference in the top category.

Adam Raga took the victory after setting the best time on both laps. A great result for the TRRS rider in what has been his first participation in the national championship of this season, since in La Nucía he was absent due to injury.
The podium was very tight until the last section, where Cabestany arrived in second position. In the end, he would add two points, to Bou’s one, leaving Fajardo as the leader of the group after the tiebreaker. Behind them, Jaime Busto, Jorge Casales, Miquel Gelabert, Oriol Noguera, Gabriel Marcelli, Franz Kadlec and Aniol Gelabert. Also noteworthy is the absence of Fujinami, absent after a crash in Saturday’s practice, and the meritorious participation of Marcelli, who also suffered a mishap in the qualifying area.

David Millán won in TR3 leaving Francesc Recio and Sergio Moreno as second and third, respectively. Carlos Palma, Lluc Miquel and Adriá Mercade have been in the photograph of winners in Cadete.

CET SIGÜENZA 2018 RESULTS

PILOT STATEMENTS

Adam Raga:
“I’m very happy with the result and the feeling we had in this race. We’re still getting into the rhythm of outdoor racing and today’s win confirms that we’re on the right track of work. In Sigüenza the sections have been demanding and with a very tight time per area. It’s been a great day for the whole TRRS team.”
Jeroni Fajardo:
“I’m very happy for this second position. We have achieved it ‘in extremis’ but without a doubt it is a very good result. We made some small mistakes that we need to improve on in qualifying on Saturday and that will allow us to have a small advantage on Sunday. As for today’s race, the feeling was good, but at the end of the second lap, I made a few too many mistakes in some quite complicated sections and that took me out of the fight for the victory. But I was able to stay calm and, in the last section, I took risks and managed to score a ‘zero’. That allowed us to finish second and I’m very happy to have done that.”
Toni Bou:
“Today I saved a trial that was very difficult for me. I knew that I was coming into this race without being in full condition, almost without training, and for me, this aggressive trial has been complicated. However, I’m quite happy because I started badly, with several fiascos, but I managed to recover at the end of the first lap and the beginning of the second, even though it was difficult for me to drive. We got a very important third position and we left here maintaining the lead, so I’m very happy. Now, we have to try to recover in these weeks that we have ahead of us to be able to be well at the start of the World Cup, in Camprodón.”
Jaime Busto:
“Today’s trial was a bit strange. At first it looked like the areas were wet but they weren’t that wet. Yesterday, qualifying didn’t go quite well for us and today we started quite ahead. The first lap went well for us, although I took some avoidable ‘fives’ and, in the second, I added another two that didn’t touch. In the end, I was 10 points away from the podium, but we will continue training to be more ready in the next race.”
Miguel Gelabert:
I was the second rider to start and well, on the first lap I made a couple of mistakes, so on the second lap I knew I had to fine-tune a lot. There were three key sections, but unfortunately I didn’t get any of them right and in the end I couldn’t go higher than seventh place, very close to the riders who preceded me, although that’s certainly not the result we wanted. The areas were of the right standard; They allowed you to make a difference, and if you failed, you could always recover, even if I didn’t take better advantage of that possibility. The bike, the team, everything worked perfectly, so it’s the rider who has failed a little bit. Now we have a three-week break and it’s time to work hard, both on the bike and in the gym, to try to be fully fit and increase my level of efficiency.”
