> Updated < A bomb accidentally explodes on Eloi Palau and Sergi Llongueras

Bad news comes from Italy, where after participating in the UCI in Val di Sole (Italy), Eloi Palau and Sergi Llongueras have been injured when a bomb from the First World War accidentally explodes on the Italian glacier of Presena, in the Dolomites.

Palau was accompanied at the time of the explosion by Sergi Llongueras, although Palau was the most seriously injured, affecting his hands, belly, foot and eyes. The Catalan pilot underwent emergency surgery last night in Italy, where he underwent eye surgery to remove particles from the bomb and one of the phalanges of his right hand was reconstructed, which right now is what worries doctors the most. In addition, Eloi has several burns on his body.

Sergi Llongueras was more than two metres from the bomb and his situation is much more favourable.

The good news is that neither of the two riders is life-threatening and we can only wait to see how the injuries of both riders evolve.
