VOLX
is a brand of trial accessories and
equipment
that was born in Barcelona, with the aim of offering a disruptive proposal in the trial market, betting on a strong aesthetic, high quality finishes and interesting accessories.
We got in touch with Pau Díaz to carry out a dynamic test of the 2019 collection proposed by VOLX, which corresponds to the second range presented by the brand. According to Pau: “the basis of the brand so far is to take products already existing in the world of trial, analyze them and get the most out of them with high quality manufacturing, refining all the finishes and details.”
The VOLX trial equipment line consists of T-shirts, trousers and gloves. Soon the range will be completed with a softshell jacket. In our case, we proceeded to test the APEX range, which replaces the PURE (2018 model).
The first thing that strikes you about this collection is its aesthetics, one of the key points in the user’s decision. The strong aesthetic charge already indicates that it is aimed at a mainly young audience, although delving into its accessories and comfort, the truth is that it is interesting for all audiences.
VOLX APEX PANTS
Among the differentiating points, starting with the
trial pants
, we highlight the presence of two pockets, one on the front and one on the back, both accessible by zipper and the outside of the garment. A phone could fit in the back pocket, but more useful for small and flexible items.
As for the protections, we have integrated foam in the knee area, with no accommodation for external knee pads at the moment. We also find kevlar protections on the inner areas of the knee and calf, with the aim of protecting the garment from the heat generated by the motorcycle’s exhaust system, as well as avoiding breakage due to friction with the plastics of the motorcycle itself.
VOLX APEX T-SHIRT
As for the
trial shirt
, the novelty is that lycra sleeves have been incorporated in this collection in search of greater comfort. We also find lycra on the cuffs and collar, with a semi-round cut. As with the trousers, this garment does not have internal labels that could make you uncomfortable.
Also noteworthy is an inner hook on the shirt, especially useful for attaching the race card.
VOLX APEX GLOVES
Finally, we have the
trial gloves
, a product that stands out for its simplicity. The fabric of the upper is completely breathable, with no protection on fingers or knuckles. The work has focused on achieving a good touch on the palm through a very thin synthetic leather, as well as reinforcing the wrist area to achieve a good fit in the rider’s hand.

DYNAMIC TESTING
We get behind the controls of the trial bike with this new range of equipment to check the dynamic sensations that the previous descriptions give us. We received the multi-coloured APEX model, possibly the most aesthetically daring of the range; You may like it more or less, that’s a purely aesthetic judgment of each one. It is true that the other three colours in the range (blue/yellow, red or grey) are less striking.
Beyond the aesthetics, the first sensation that this kit provides is a lot of comfort and a great fit of all the pieces. The t-shirt has a “relaxed” size, so it is less tight in the trunk and waist area. The front and back of this t-shirt are well ventilated and the material is different from what we find in the sleeves. In general, the t-shirt feels good and, if we compare it with other competitors, it would stand out for a slightly greater thickness that does not translate into discomfort either, perhaps the opposite. It is probably hotter in the summer season and we will find it more comfortable in autumn, spring and winter climates.
The pants have a good quality and the sizing, unlike the t-shirt, is rather tight. It is convenient to have a pocket for small items, something that is becoming less and less common in trial pants. The waist is also well resolved, with elastics and micro-adjustable closure. In general terms, it is a comfortable, well-finished garment and a successful pattern that allows good mobility on the bike. Compared to the competition, there is a difference in terms of protection, since the general trend is to equip a removable Strongflex knee pad.
The VOLX gloves, as we mentioned, are rather simple, but comfortable and with a good fit. The palm provides a good touch, which in the end is the important thing for these products. One of the key points, which is to be determined with future uses, is the actual durability of these gloves, since the material that makes up the upper part is effectively a relatively thin fabric, as well as the finger seams, which is the weak point of most gloves on the market.
