Toni Bou wins in Marseille ahead of Raga and Cabestany

Second consecutive victory for Bou in 2014 Toni Bou claimed his second consecutive victory of 2014 after winning last night at the Marseille Indoor Trial.Bou Marseille The reigning champions didn’t have it easy at all, as they had a very inspired Adam Raga in front of them who put them in trouble until the last section. The podium was completed by Albert Cabestany.

Marseille was the stage where the best drivers in the world once again measured themselves in indoor areas, with The pressure of a much more aggressive regulation that does not allow for the slightest error and the fact that it is a A calendar made up of just five races to be played in less than 90 days.

CLASSIFICATION

In the first round of the night it was held along seven zones, in which there were no big surprises. To highlight the role of Jorge Casales, who in his second race of the world championship managed to improve his previous record, although still without finding the sensations that he himself desires in this type of area.

Along with him, Gubian, Ferrer and Coquelin finished their night in this round.

The order of the best classified was: Bou, Raga, Dabill, Cabestany, Fujinami and Fajardo.

SEMIFINAL

The Magnificent Six entered the next round, to be played in only four zones and where two of them would finish their performance. Both Fajardo and Fujinami made a fiasco in the last three zones, losing all their chances of entering the final round.

On the other hand, we witnessed a brilliant night for the British James Dabill , who equalled the record of Cabestany, third, to get fully into the final. Up front, Bou and Raga, in that order, set the tone for the night.

FINAL

The decisive round was once again hotly contested. The favourite, Toni Bou, was once again the benchmark and knew how to make a difference in the decisive zone , this time the first one, where the rest of his rivals left the maximum score and gave him a minimum cushion for the remaining three sections.

In front of him was an inspired Adam Raga , who, except for the fiasco of the first zone, matched Bou’s records and would finish just two points behind the winner. Behind, Cabestany shrewdly and narrowly managed to get a good podium in front of an inspired Dabill.

With this victory, Toni Bou has 23 consecutive victories in this competition, consolidating himself as the firm candidate for a new crown in 2014.

Toni Bou: “In Marseille we have seen again that this year the finals, with only four zones and the counters at zero points, will be very close. Here we came up against some very technical sections and a rival, Adam, who made me suffer until the last moment. On the bike and in such complicated sections I felt very good and this is important, as well as these 13 points advantage after two rounds in such a short championship.”

Takahisa Fujinami: “More than the result, what I value is the improvement that my right knee continues to experience after the ligament tear I suffered about three months ago. Here I felt tense and at times I lacked balance, but the main problem was that I stayed in the second and fourth sections of the semi-final. When there are only four zones and you don’t climb in two of them, it’s impossible to recover.”
